Last week, one of our residents, Edith, went on a truly unforgettable trip! Thanks to The Absolute Hospice Foundation, her "My Heart’s Desire" wish came true with a special night at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg.

With help from Edith’s family and coordination with the speedway staff, we made sure every detail was just right. Edith was joyfully surprised by longtime friends she hadn’t seen in years, making the night even more nostalgic and heartwarming. To ensure her comfort, Edith enjoyed the races from a specially secured spot with noise-canceling headphones, allowing her to soak in the experience safely and comfortably.

A heartfelt thank-you to Absolute Home Health & Hospice for making Edith’s wish a beautiful reality! 💙

A few weeks ago, Altercare Wadsworth staff and residents celebrated JAWS 50th Anniversary! We enjoyed a fun cookout with delicious food and a special Jello dessert, all while wearing festive summer looks. Our day was enhanced with a kiddie pool filled with sharks, fun photo opportunities, and other themed activities. Everyone had a “reel” good time honoring half a century of this legendary shark tale! 🦈

Billie and Robert have supported our operations from behind the scenes with unwavering commitment, innovation, and expertise. Their contributions have powered our progress and helped shape the systems we rely on every day.

We hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July! The night before, we celebrated with a parking lot cookout and fireworks viewing party. Residents, families and staff enjoyed burgers, snacks and a spectacular firework show! A big thank you to Andrew, our Maintenance Coordinator, and his family for cooking burgers and hosting this fun event for the residents. Another special thank you to residents James and Earl for helping and filling the party with laughter! It was the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day! ❤🤍💙

Meet our July Employee of the Month… Angie!

Angie Trainor is a CNA and CMA that has been a part of our Altercare team since October. In the future, Angie hopes to attend nursing school to further her career in healthcare. Angie’s favorite part of her job is simple… getting to talk with the residents! Angie’s biggest personal inspiration is her grandmother who passed away when she was 12. She strives to be better than she was the day before to make her grandmother proud. Her professional inspirations are the nurses she’s worked with over the years. Their hard work and dedication amazes Angie and she strives to have the same dedication.

Angie and her husband, Chris, have 4 children, Rhilee, Rhaigan, Kadie, and Braydon. In her free time, she enjoys being with her family, friends, and spending time outdoors. A fun fact about Angie is that she is an only child.

Meet our May Employee of the Month… Zack!

Zack Riegler, Maintenance Coordinator, has only been a part of our Altercare team for three months. Although his time with us has been short, he has made a huge impact. Zack’s favorite part of his job is being able to talk to the residents and help them when needed. Professionally, Zack is inspired by others who he has worked with that have been in the professions for a long time. Their experience, attitude, and work ethic are something that Zack respects and wants to live up to. His mom, who is the hardest working person he knows, is also an inspiration to him. “She is always doing whatever it takes for her family, never complaining, and showing up with strength and commitment every day. Her work ethic and resilience are what I try to bring into my own career.”

Zack has a girlfriend, Molly, and two cats. In his free time, he likes to spend time outdoors, go fishing, grilling out, and going swimming. A fun fact about Zack is that he likes to garden.

“I chose Altercare because it offered real opportunities to grow my skills and take on more responsibility. I wanted a place where hard work gets noticed and rewarded. Which by receiving this honorable award, instills my decision to work for this company. I also wanted to challenge myself by taking on a new position as a manager.”

Every month, our Admissions Coordinator, Bev Long, hosts a cooking class for the seniors at the Lake Anna Barberton YMCA. The cooking classes are filled with great recipes, taste testing, laughter, and long-standing friendships. This month, they learned how to make an Asian sesame chicken salad. Thank you, Bev, for representing Altercare and helping our local seniors.

March 10th-14th was Healthcare HR Week. To celebrate, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible HR professionals who support our skilled nursing team. From recruiting top talent to fostering a positive workplace culture, they play a vital role in ensuring our staff and residents thrive.

Meet Stephanie McQuistan, our Staff Coordinator, who has been a part of our Altercare team for three years. Stephanie’s favorite part of her job is getting to work with the residents. She loves hearing their stories and how they become part of her extended family. To ensure that she provides the best possible care to the residents, Stephanie makes sure to interview and ask specific questions to hire the most qualified, compassionate staff possible. When asked what advice she would give to someone just starting their career in healthcare, Stephanie stated, “You have to have great customer service, a positive attitude, and be compassionate.”

Stephanie and her husband, Keir, have two children, four grandchildren, a dog, and a cat. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family. A fun fact about Stephanie is that she lived in Spain! She has also visited Italy, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France, and Ireland.
