What an incredible night at our "Hang Up and Hang Out" girls only event! 🩷
We had a fun evening full of conversations, encouragement, and connection as we dove into insights from "The Amazing Generation" by Jonathan Haidt. Together, we explored how technology and social media are shaping our mental and emotional health. Technology is literally re-wiring our brains when we replace play time with screen time!
We learned the four major harms of a phone-based childhood are social deprivation, sleep deprivation, attention fragmentation and addiction. We realized the healthiest childhood includes REAL friendships, REAL challenges, REAL independence and REAL play!
We learned how to replace screen time with better alternatives as we explored the joys of reading, crafts, self-care, movement and connections.
Our discussion around "The Amazing Generation" challenged us to think differently about screen time and what it means to grow up in a digital world. If you would like to learn more or are interested in reading the book Kinship has a few more books to give away so please reach out!
A HUGE SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU to Zonta Club of Breckenridge-Wahpeton for donating 15 books so each of our girls could take one home and continue their journey into a life where we learn how to use technology and not let it use us! 🩷
