Our WCCHC Board of Directors & Leadership Team was proud to attend the 2026 National Association of Community Health Centers Policy & Issues Forum in Washington, D.C., joining health center leaders from across the country to advocate for the future of primary care.
As a part of the conference, they met with the state delegation: Senator Brian Schatz, Senator Mazie Hirono, Representative Ed Case, and Representative Jill Tokuda. As Community Health Centers celebrate 60 years of service nationwide, they discussed the importance of strengthening primary care, supporting the healthcare workforce, and ensuring access to care for West Oʻahu families.
Community Health Centers serve 1 in 7 Americans and remain one of the most cost-effective and impactful investments in healthcare. We are grateful for the opportunity to share the voice of our community directly with federal leaders and to help shape policies that improve health outcomes across Waiʻanae Coast. This included discussing changes coming to Medicine in 2027, supporting Native Hawaiian Health, expanding telehealth, and ensuring access to primary care.
During the meeting with Senator Hirono, Nicholas Hughey, Executive Vice President, was recognized formally for his 10 year of contributions to community health with a message of recognition.
Mahalo to our congressional delegation for taking the time to meet with us and for their continued partnership in advancing community health.
