Today is Paget’s Awareness Day 💚💜

Paget’s disease is a rare bone condition that affects how bones grow and rebuild, often making them weaker, larger, or misshapen. It can cause pain, mobility challenges, and other health concerns sometimes without obvious symptoms at first.

Awareness helps promote early diagnosis, understanding, and support for those living with Paget’s disease. Today, we stand together to learn, share, and uplift the voices of this community.

Breaking barriers beyond Earth 🚀♿🌕

On December 20, 2025, German aerospace engineer Michaela “Michi” Benthaus made history as the first wheelchair user to travel to space, flying aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard suborbital rocket. She spent several minutes above the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space, and experienced weightlessness, showing the world that disability does not define limits.

At Aloha Independent Living Hawaiʻi, we believe in choice, opportunity, and seeing ability in every person. Today we celebrate inclusion, representation, and the power of designing a world where everyone can reach for the stars.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is inviting families to join a play-based social skills research program for children with ASD (ages 5–10). Sessions use fun, play-based activities to support social and play skills. Families may receive a stipend ✨

For 14 years, Anthony has generously volunteered his time and skills as our tech volunteer, supporting our work behind the scenes and helping our organization grow. We are deeply grateful for his long-standing commitment, dedication, and service.
Recently, Anthony shared that he is no longer able to continue assisting us. While we will be moving forward with new support, we want to take this moment to honor and recognize the many years he gave to our mission. As a small token of our appreciation, we were honored to present him with a Mahalo plaque.
