July is Disability Pride Month ๐Ÿฉต

We decided to bring back this simple fact: Anyone on this earth can become disabled at any time.

So many of us had our health one day, and lost it before we could count to three. This isnโ€™t the only reason why the world should care about disabled people, but it is certainly something to think about. So be an ally. Fight for our rights. One day they could be your rights.

That is only one out of many reasons you should listen to and amplify disabled voices, fight for accessibility, and fight for our right to not just exist but to thrive in this world. Just caring about your fellow humans is enough of a reason ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒ

Sending love to everyone this Disability Pride Month. Those who are feeling loud and proud, and those who arenโ€™t feeling it at all. Thatโ€™s okay too. You do you with no shame ๐Ÿฉต

Today marks the anniversary of the Olmstead decision, a landmark moment in disability rights history. On June 22, 1999, the Supreme Court affirmed the right of people with disabilities to live in their communities, fostering greater independence and inclusion. We honor this day and continue to advocate for accessibility and equality for all.

If Hawaii is on your bucket list, travel writer Sylvia Longmire says that itโ€™s hard to beat Honolulu for overall accessibility and ease of travel. She shows you around her favorite accessible activities, including going to the beach, seeing the island via a lift-equipped helicopter and enjoying a traditional Hawaiian luau.

PSA: Invisible illnesses exist and no two disabilities look the same. The stranger next to you might look completely fine, but the inside of their body would tell a whole different story. Be kind always and never forget that you never know whatโ€™s going on behind the scenes of another. ๐Ÿฉต
