True North Wilderness Program is a small, individualized, therapeutic wellness program for young adults in Waitsfield, Vermont

True North Wilderness Program is located in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Our goal is to provide opportunities that inspire and empower students and their families to reach their full potential. We work with Adolescents 14-17 and Young Adults 18-25. True North students typically present with mild depression, anger, anxiety, oppositional defiance, learning differences, academic difficulty, proble

ms with peer and family relationships, and/or experimentation with substance use. Group size is limited to seven students with a 3:1 student to staff ratio. The average length of stay for adolescents is 10-12 weeks. The program is a hiking based model throughout the year on the National and State Forests of Vermont with base camp lodging in heated cabins during the winter months on the Windridge Camp campus located in Roxbury, Vermont. Master’s level therapists work together with field guides, students, and families to create individualized treatment plans. Students engage in individual therapy twice a week and group therapy multiple times per week. Students work on primitive wilderness skills throughout their stay and complete a personal portfolio to help them to stay connected to new skills and confidence as they transition to the next step. The Parent Program allows parents to engage in weekly parent curriculum assignments and phone calls as well as a two-day intensive parent workshop. Our sophisticated clinical team works with students and families from all over the world to meet their individual needs year round on a rolling admission basis.

☀️Channeling sun salutations for this rainy week! Luckily we offer indoor yoga classes at our local studio along with outdoor classes so we never miss due to weather. We look forward to introducing this weekly practice to our adolescents this summer. We are currently enrolling adolescents and young adults- come salute the VT sun with us this summer! ☀️

Our students enjoy nutritious, balanced meals prepared with care. We focus on building positive relationships with food as part of our holistic approach to wellness.
