Congratulations to Kase Gun who found the Golden Egg and got the $100.00 gift card that Schwartz Electric donated to go towards a new bike! The second Golden Egg prize was donated by WaNee Wishes -It was an Easter Basket full of goodies. The delicious cookies were made by Grandma’s Pantry were also donated by WaNee Wishes!

We recently celebrated Lowell and Marilyn Kuhn’s 73rd Wedding Anniversary! 💕

Jill Tyler put on a lovely music program and even sang “Happy Anniversary” to the happy couple. We enjoyed cake, balloons, flowers, and so many heartfelt cards to honor this special milestone.

Yesterday, Patty Piechocki from Northern Indiana Real Services joined us for an informative Dementia and Alzheimer’s training. We were so glad to welcome members of our community, along with our residents and staff, for this important session.

Patty shared valuable insights, and there were many thoughtful questions that led to meaningful discussions. It was a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about such an important topic.

Last week, we proudly celebrated Long-Term Care Administrators Week, and we’d like to extend a big thank you to our incredible Administrator, David Henke! 💙

David was born at Elkhart General Hospital — the very same place where he later worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and Practitioner. He went on to earn his Master’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from Indiana Wesleyan University and served as a financial analyst at Healthwin Hospital, where he completed his training and licensure as a Health Facility Administrator in Indiana. He also holds a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator certification in the state of Michigan.

Throughout his career, David has dedicated himself to serving several nursing facilities across Indiana, building strong care teams and improving outcomes for residents. He joined The Waters of Wakarusa one year ago and shared that the small-town feel and genuine, heartfelt care shown by the team is what drew him here.

In addition to his work in healthcare, David has proudly served as an Elkhart City Councilman for the past 22 years.

David has been married for 38 years to his wife, Kim — an RN, MSN, MPH, CCRN, and Clinical Specialist at Elkhart General — where the two first met. Together, they have two children: Zachary, a public works engineer in Elkhart, and Alexandria, a lawyer for the New York Civil Court System. They also have one very spoiled grandchild, Kingston!

In their free time, David and Kim enjoy boating, traveling, and making a difference in their community. They reside in Elkhart, Indiana.

We’re so lucky to have the BEST residents and staff with us! 💚

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day from everyone at The Waters of Wakarusa! 🍀🌈

We celebrated by wearing Green, Having Corn Beef and Cabbage for lunch and Irish Tunes with Fred Walker along with Mint Chip Ice Cream with a Thin Mint Cookie for a Treat.
