Thank you to the beautiful Miriam of Sky Pond for capturing this picture of me prepping for my first drum circle last week. I love this picture for many reasons. I have been on a personal journey of transition for the past year. From overcoming a fear of public speaking, to losing my beloved sister unexpectedly, to hosting several dozen sound baths, to feeling the call toward community and leading drum and voice circles. This year has been a transition, an unfolding.
The medicine bag I am wearing here was a gift from Dreamweaver, a member of the Haliwa-Saponi tribe and one of my shamanic mentors. My beautiful bee drum was painted by my sound healing teacher, another shamanic mentor. I am blessed to have had the most amazing teachers to show me the way, to teach me steadiness, resilience.
To walk the path of the unknown can be difficult. But when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, to follow our passions, to speak from the heart and lead from the truth, all is well. All will be okay. And we make room for our greatest wounds to become our greatest strengths.
With the equinox behind us now, the wheel of the year begins its descent into autumn, into winter, into darkness. May we love and cherish the precious Light within ourselves, and within one another.
You are beautiful 💜
