🔍 When’s the last time your hearing aids had a check-up?

🔧 Just like your car needs an oil change or your teeth need a cleaning, your hearing aids need regular maintenance to keep them performing their best. A quick appointment can help prevent bigger issues like weak sound, battery performance, or sudden malfunctions.

✨ As the saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

A little routine care now can save you from costly repairs (or the frustration of a silent hearing aid) later.

At Wake Audiology, we’ll:
✔️ Check for wax and moisture buildup
✔️ Clean and inspect microphones and receivers
✔️ Update settings if needed
✔️ Answer any questions or concerns you have

🗓️ It’s quick, easy, and keeps your hearing sharp. Message us to schedule your routine maintenance appointment today!

🌞 Summer recap time!
Be honest… how’d you really do at:
🎓 Graduation parties?
💍 Summer weddings?
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family vacations?

Did you catch every toast, every laugh, every story from the backseat? Or were you nodding along and hoping you got it right?

And here’s a bigger question…
👉 How would your spouse say you did? 😅

Untreated hearing loss doesn’t just show up in the clinic. It shows up in the missed punchlines, the quiet “never mind” from loved ones, and the moments you wish you could’ve been more present for.

If this summer left you feeling a little disconnected, it might be time to check in on your hearing.

💬 Call us today, we’re happy to talk about real solutions for real life.

🕯️"Does ear candling really work?"
I love that people ask this, but I DO NOT recommend it. EVER.

Despite the hype, that brown goo left in the candle isn’t your earwax, it’s just melted candle residue. Plus, those hollow candles can drip hot wax into your ear canal and even burn your eardrum. 😱

👍Save yourself the risk. Let a licensed professional handle earwax removal safely.

💬 “Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.” — Mandy Hale

I think about this quote often when working with patients who are facing untreated hearing loss.
👂 Hearing loss is more than just “missing a few words.” It affects how we connect, how we communicate, and how we feel about ourselves. And making the choice to address it? That can be scary.

Change is hard.

Wearing hearing aids might feel like admitting something you’ve been avoiding.
The process might feel overwhelming.
You might worry about how others will see you.
But staying stuck in the frustration, the isolation, the constant guessing game. THAT is far harder in the long run.

💡 Choosing to hear better is choosing growth. It’s choosing relationships, confidence, safety, and joy.

And I promise, you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to guide you, step by step!

“I hope I don’t have wax in my ears!”
I hear this all the time when I’m about to check someone’s ears, and I always reassure them: earwax isn’t bad! 👂✨

In fact, your ears are supposed to have wax. It’s your body’s natural way of keeping your ears clean and protected. Earwax has antifungal and antibacterial properties that help prevent infections. 🙌

The only time it becomes an issue? When there’s too much of it and it forms a plug (think: putting an earplug in your canal). That’s when it can start to affect your hearing.

If you’re someone who gets a buildup often, regular ear cleanings can make a big difference.

💬 Message me if you want to get checked or learn more about safe wax removal!

This week we celebrated Dr. Vrooman's birthday! We got lunch from the empanada factory and enjoyed a delicious strawberry shortcake for dessert. 🥳🍰
We love moments like these when we get to take a break and celebrate one another. Our wake Audiology team is truly a family and we enjoy spending time together to celebrate special occasions. 🎉
Happy Birthday, Dr. Vrooman!

🇺🇸 Fireworks, fun, and freedom, what’s not to love about the 4th of July?
Well… maybe the volume. 😬💥
🎆 Fireworks can reach up to 150 decibels! For reference, that’s louder than a jet engine and definitely loud enough to cause hearing damage. But don’t worry, we’re not here to be party poopers. Just hearing protectors. 😉
👉 Here are a few easy ways to protect your ears while still enjoying the show:
🎧Wear earplugs. Yes, even the foam ones help!
📏 Sit at a safe distance (at least 500 feet away if you can)
👂Protect kids’ ears too!
Stay safe, stay festive, and take care of those ears! 🇺🇸

‼️As a reminder, our office will be closed on Friday, July 4th, in observance of the holiday. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, July 7th.

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🎉

🌟 Today we celebrate Helen Keller Day 🌟

✍️A deafblind author, political activist, and lifelong advocate for people with disabilities, Helen Keller’s courage and determination paved the way for so many.

She once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

👂At Wake Audiology, we carry that spirit forward. Our goal is to walk beside our patients, providing encouragement, guidance, and support on their journey with hearing loss. Whether it’s helping you hear your loved ones again or regain confidence in conversations, you’re never in this alone.

💪Let’s continue to build a world where everyone is heard and connected. Please message us if you have questions about hearing care or just want to start the conversation!

Dr. Vrooman and Dr. Dorsey got to experience going into a wireless anechoic chamber while at Starkey's Hearing Health Summit.

"A wireless anechoic chamber is a specialized, shielded room designed to absorb electromagnetic waves, creating a controlled environment for testing wireless devices without external interference."
So, what this chamber does is test the wireless combability of your hearing aids! Isn't that cool?! 🦻😎

Dr. Dorsey shared some fun information with us - did you know that based upon where you keep your phone and how you have it facing can affect the Bluetooth connection to your devices?
For example, if you have your phone in your back pocket with the screen facing towards you then you may experience more Bluetooth issues due to the signal getting blocked. If you have your phone with the screen facing outwards and you are indoors, then your Bluetooth may be working well - but outdoors, it may cause more connectivity issues due to large area of space outside.

Isn't that cool that we learned something new about Bluetooth connectivity? 📲
