Here are some more things to look for:
1. Is your child rigid in their play, or do they easily integrate and get excited about new games and concepts? It is important that as children grow, they develop flexibility when new games or kids are introduced.
This, of course, is not black and white, but it's a great concept to keep in mind and encourage with your developing child!
2. Does your child consistently turn their head or have to lay on their side when playing with small toys such as Legos, building blocks, or toy cars? This could signify that they are trying to occlude one eye and not use both eyes together, which is important for visual development.
3. Does your child have some pushback with you or their playmates? This is totally normal and actually an important stage of development. As a child begins to develop more awareness outside of themselves, they also need to find boundaries for themselves and others. It is typical for a
child at this stage to begin to have "pushback" or seek control of others in this stage of development. This is an important time to connect and help your child learn healthy boundaries.
Remember, just because it's a typical and important stage of development does not mean it's easy as a parent!! We know! You've got this!
