This image shows how changes in your feet may reveal hidden health problems. While tired feet are common, persistent or unusual symptoms should never be ignored. Cold feet can signal poor blood circulation, anemia, hypothyroidism, or diabetes, especially when they happen frequently. Swollen feet and ankles are often linked to fluid retention, heart disease, kidney problems, pregnancy, or long hours of sitting or standing.
Numbness or tingling in the feet is a common sign of nerve damage, particularly diabetic neuropathy or vitamin B12 deficiency. A burning sensation may point to chronic nerve disorders, alcohol-related nerve damage, or nutritional deficiencies. Persistent foot pain is often caused by arthritis, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, or stress fractures, especially in people who are on their feet all day.
Non-healing foot sores are a serious warning sign of diabetes complications, poor circulation, or infection and require immediate medical attention. Dark spots or lines on the skin or under toenails may rarely indicate melanoma (skin cancer) and should never be ignored. Cracked heels are usually due to dryness but can also be linked to dehydration, thyroid imbalance, or skin disorders.
These signs are early health warning signals, not diagnoses. If symptoms are persistent, worsening, or painful, consult a healthcare professional.
