Trego County Fair Returns for 2023 with BIG Additions and Improvements
Plans have been underway for the 2023 Trego County Fair, since the end of the 2022 Trego County Fair to make additions and improvements! As most everyone has noticed two new buildings have been added to the fairgrounds. The large open sided building will be replacing the tents that have been rented for many years. This building will be used for the beer garden, community BBQ, and free stage events.
The smaller building is a roof over the free stage, once again allowing the Fair Board to not have to pay for tent rental for a roof over the stage, and all done with no taxpayer funds!!!
The most exciting addition to this year’s fair (at least for all the kids . . . and kids at heart) will be additions to the carnival. Garry Moore’s amusements will return this year with some new rides, including a GIANT slide. Also the fair board has been working hard to include additional rides. These additional rides will be included in the cost of the armband, so parents will like this also! Besides Garry Moore’s amusement rides, other rides will be a giant inflatable combine, a Toxic Meltdown (similar to wipeout), a rock climbing wall and an obstacle course. The virtual reality ride will also be included in the armbands on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
By popular demand the mechanical bull will return and will require a separate, inexpensive, ticket!
This year the armbands will be $25.00, however for ONE DAY ONLY they will be available for $20.00. A booth will be open during the Buzzard Bash in downtown WaKeeney on April 22 and the armbands will be available that day for $20.00. A limited supply of armbands will be available.
Due to its popularity the Ranch Rodeo will return on Saturday night, and also IMCA racing will return to the grandstands. This year a special event has been added, sponsored by the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital Foundation – “The Peterson Brothers” will be in the grandstands on Thursday night. Friday night this year will feature motorcycle races.
As always there will be COLD beer in the beer garden, entertainment on the free stage, good food, vendors and lots of activities throughout the week.
