South County Mental Health

South County Mental Health South County Mental Health of Rhode Island was started because we saw a huge gap in care for BIPoC/Q We hold in highest regard the possibility for healing.

We are a coalition of clinically trained mental health providers. Honoring diversity, acting ethically and ensuring quality access to services is at the core of what we do. We seek to work with providers who understand the importance of the relational field and meet those seeking services from an authentic and humble space. Further, those working with us have a deep affinity to social justice and view the complexities of our systems through a holistic, intersectionality, trauma informed and strengths based lens; We look at how our privilege/oppression-based culture comes into play into our own and our clients' lives. We carefully consider the importance race, culture and identity have on presenting symptoms. Those on our team have a deep personal understanding of how challenging and rewarding the journey of transformation is. We offer a wide range of eclectic and innovative treatment options ranging from EMDR to art therapy, dream analysis to Somatics and many more. South County Mental Health aspires to be a safe, inclusive environment. We are a social justice focused practice oriented and operate from a multicultural perspective which values diversity as a strength, affirms intersectionality, and considers issues of power, privilege, and oppression throughout treatment. Our clients come from varied backgrounds. They are often working though life adjustments and change and seek support, connection and healing. As individuals work to make sense of their place and identities in the world, we walk together to discover the parts of self that need to be witnessed, healed and released, so they can reclaim and empower the parts that have been abused, neglected, forgotten, or ignored.

When faced with police, ICE, or any authority trying to intimidate you, knowledge is your shield. Stay calm, stand firm, and remember: YOU have rights.

โš–๏ธ Stay silent. Donโ€™t answer questions.
โš–๏ธ Do NOT consent to searches. Ask, โ€œAm I free to go?โ€
โš–๏ธ Demand a lawyer. They canโ€™t force you to speak.
โš–๏ธ Record everything. Evidence protects you & others.

Your rights are non-negotiable. Use them. Share this. Stay safe. โœŠ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ

๐Ÿ’” Grieving an Election Loss? You're Not Alone ๐Ÿค๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿผ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿค๐Ÿพ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฟ

It's normal to feel disappointed, angry, or scared after an election doesn't go the way you hoped. These feelings are valid, especially for our BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and other marginalized communities who may feel particularly vulnerable.

Remember:
1. Your feelings are valid - allow yourself to grieve ๐Ÿซ‚
2. Self-care isn't selfish - it's necessary ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ
3. Connect with your community - you're not alone ๐Ÿ‘ฅ
4. Your vote still matters - every voice counts ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ
5. Change doesn't end with elections - grassroots movements have power โœŠ๐ŸปโœŠ๐ŸผโœŠ๐ŸฝโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐Ÿฟ

Most importantly, remember that our collective power goes beyond any single election. Together, we can still:
โ€ข Support local initiatives
โ€ข Engage in community organizing
โ€ข Amplify marginalized voices
โ€ข Practice mutual aid
โ€ข Continue to fight for justice and equity

At Phoenix Rising Centers, we're here to support you through this challenging time. Our culturally competent therapists understand the impact of sociopolitical stress on mental health.

๐Ÿ’ฌ We want to hear from you: How are you taking care of yourself today? How are you connecting with your community?

Remember, healing is a journey, not a destination. We're in this together. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฟ
