Meet Tara, a familiar face at ProFlex PT who has trusted us with her recovery journey from shoulder to ankle.

Most recently, Tara came to our Waldorf clinic after a pilot fracture that required ORIF surgery. With hard work, dedication, and the support of her therapy team, she’s now back to doing what she loves…jogging again! 🏃‍♀️

Want a quick way to test your balance and boost your brain? Try standing on one foot with your eyes closed — it’s harder than it looks! 👀

This fun challenge from our Waldorf team isn’t just for laughs — it’s a great way to improve proprioception, strengthen stabilizing muscles, and reduce fall risk (especially as we age). 💪

Bonus: It activates your brain too — your body has to work overtime without visual cues. Can you beat the world record of 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 33 seconds?

Did you know your ability to balance can predict long-term health?
Standing on one foot with your eyes closed isn’t just a fun challenge — it activates your brain, improves stability, and may even reduce your risk of injury and chronic disease. 💡

Our Gaithersburg team challenged themselves to see how their balance and proprioception was doing. Here are the target times for age groups:
• Under 40: 45 seconds with eyes open, 15 seconds with eyes closed.
• Aged 40-49: 42 seconds open, 13 seconds closed.
• Aged 50-59: 41 seconds open, 8 seconds closed.
• Aged 60-69: 32 seconds open, 4 seconds closed.
• Aged 70-79: 22 seconds open, 3 seconds closed.

Last week, ProFlex PT Leonardtown welcomed students from Father Andrew White School for a fun and educational field trip!

The kids learned all about physical therapy, the importance of exercise, and how PT/OT can help people of all ages. They explored hand therapy tools, took on an obstacle course, and tried out pediatric-sized assistive devices generously provided by A Community That Shares — a wonderful local program that allows community members to borrow medical equipment for free.

Thank you to all the students (and teachers!) for spending the day with us and learning how staying active and strong can lead to a healthier future!
