Hello all!
Well, my jury duty notice came so I shall fulfill my civic duty in October. If I can figure out a way to see some of you for appointments I will try but for those who have done it you don’t know until the night before which is completely messing with my flow. But, I will have done my community duty and maybe I can use my brain to solve something big and juicy. Lol.

When mommy in law ish throws guilt that it has been awhile since a visit, you say ok and go to Vermont. It is just so lovely and green. Of course a quilt shop trip in Connecticut where we saw a small village and this. Connecticuts economy said thanks and my fabric is being shipped. Our Deborah is holding down the fort and Ashley is doing her civic duty and doing jury duty so I had to man the phones. I believe as of yesterday when I left all completed. Oh and I got jury duty in November. lol. See everyone Monday!

Well hello my WPPC peeps,
It has been a hot minute since I have posted. So, let us do all the gossip. As many of you know I had a dreadful near death illness which I did survive and of course recently had a surgery that again was gut related. And, as many of you know I now travel with my most recent trip to the continent of Africa. I posted some pictures and had a wonderful time. I walked with the lions, walked with an elephant, saw many animals including two that are rare to see, swam with sharks (in a cage), flew over Victoria Falls and did a night safari as well as 2 additional ones on land and two by water. I am not a curry fan but I had antelope which was good and tried things that are certainly out of my comfort zone. Weather was perfect and I shopped. Shocking I know. Coming up is my yearly trip to see the 93 year old MIL ish in vermont. Just a couple of days for that and then quilting ladies retreat which I painfully have to say I have been doing for about 25 years. Now sure how that is when I am 29. lol. There is another trip for Christmas Markets but different countries in Europe and visit to Poland to see Auschwitz and related historical sites.
I will say Africa was so interesting. I learned about Hektor Peiterson and apartheid. Very intense for sure.

Now for some office news. We are working on our website to make things more streamline. I am now certified for Microneedling which at my age now it is a fight to stop the painful hands of time. This is a new service offered and I am finally set up. I also attended a fellowship at the U of MD which was exciting for women's health and took a course while recovering to be an investigator related to forensic exams. Its doing things I find passion to do for the community and patients as a whole.

So there you are. Finally a catch up. We have added Ron to our roster and remember when calling please follow the prompts as Ashley answers the phone a lot and getting your request done quickly is the goal. Referrals still take a couple of days and prior authorizations are slow thanks to insurances saying NO at every moment and every medication. This I do not like at all.

For now we are all caught up and see everyone soon! Plan a trip even if for the day and embrace the little moments.

The black photo is the southern cross. These were on a night safari and how we drove those trails with no head lights is amazing to me. Then the sunset cruise were hippos watched us. The people, the land, the struggle and those animals who grace us with their presence.

Hector Pieterson. This is his sister. Powerful story. His death was the beginning of the end of Apartheid in South Africa. For me and two others it was overwhelming. It renders appreciation for indoor plumbing and for now what we have a freedoms. Their constitution follows the keep it simple theory and they love it. On a side note I have literally never seen cleaner bathrooms. Every single one even in the bush is assigned a cleaning person and they are ridiculously clean.

Now the following pictures show how they try to contain hiv. Usaid sent this country condoms and antiretrovirals. The average age prior to our country and other countries doing this was 35. Because of global support they are much better in terms of transmission and longevity. They are worried now because no more usaid. This means those who are considered not transmissible will revert back once the meds have stopped. So to combat the spread as well clinics are offered. And this one was next to a liquor store.

Safari x2! These animals either crossed the road or were standing by the road. There is a photo of wild dogs. It is very very rare to see them and even our guides were excited. There are only 4000 left on this planet. We saw tigers but the photo makes them blend. Fantastic.

Sharks today!!!! And humbled as to what nothing looks like. A shanty town is very very poor role living in handmade buildings with no running water or plumbing and “diverted” electric. A port o potty is what is given every couple of dwellings. Huge disparity with really no safety nets ie SNAP, section 8 or Medicare. They do have medical provided to all however. With beauty comes diversity, and have and have nots.
Enjoy the pictures.

Some photos from Cape Town South Africa!!! I will be looking for that kooky tree when I get back. I found the monkey puzzle tree from Ireland and it is planted in my front yard. The history has been so enlightening of this country.
