Calming Breath Doula Services LLC

Calming Breath Doula Services LLC As a birth doula, we help new parents navigate the pregnancy, birthing and postpartum experience. I am independent and self-employed.

As a birth doula, I accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I draw on my professional training, knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with the staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labor. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, soothing touch, positioning and other techniques for comfort. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital.

Choosing who will support you during birth matters. A lot.

Birth works best when you feel safe, supported, and comfortable. Your body needs that sense of safety to relax, open, and do the work it was designed to do. The people in the room play a huge role in creating that environment.

Your support people should be those who trust birth, respect your choices, and support your decisions without questioning or adding doubt. A doula can also help guide and support your birth partner so they’re able to show up for you with confidence and calm.

You don’t owe anyone a spot in your birth space just because they’re family or really want to be there. This isn’t about meeting expectations or sparing feelings. This is about you, your body, and your journey into parenthood. Choose the people who help you feel confident, safe, and supported.

Those first quiet flutters are moments many parents hold close 💓

Quickening is the term for the first movements you feel from your baby. It may feel like gentle bubbles, soft taps, or tiny flutters, often during the second trimester. At first, these movements are subtle and easy to miss.

They’re often private, tender moments just for you. A small reminder that your baby is there, growing and connecting with you, creating a bond that begins long before birth. 💕

Moms, remember: self-care isn’t selfish. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so take time to refill yours. It can be as simple as a few quiet minutes, a deep breath, or a comforting cup of tea. When you care for yourself first, you give yourself the energy, patience, and presence to truly show up for everyone else. 💛

Did you know that Michigan Medicaid covers doula care 🤍

All Michigan Medicaid plans include doula services as part of pregnancy and postpartum support. Private insurance coverage can vary, but Medicaid recipients are eligible for this added layer of care.

Not sure how to use your benefit or what it includes?
Call or message to schedule a free consultation, and we can go over your coverage together and talk through what doula support could look like for you.

Support during pregnancy and postpartum should be accessible and you deserve it.

Walking, prenatal yoga, and using a birth ball are great, gentle options for many pregnant people. The key is choosing movement that feels good and supports your changing body.

A few important reminders:
• Don’t start a brand-new exercise plan without checking in with your provider
• Avoid high-impact activities or anything with a risk of falling or abdominal injury
• Listen to your body and rest when you need to

You don’t have to do it all at once. “Snack” on movement throughout the day. A short walk, a few stretches, or some gentle hip circles all add up.

And don’t forget to stay hydrated 💧

Movement in pregnancy isn’t about pushing limits. It’s about supporting your body as it prepares for birth, supporting your baby with healthy blood flow, and supporting your well-being, including the mental health benefits that come with gentle, consistent movement 🤍
