1 - stop expecting your baby to have any sort of schedule. They have had 24/7 access to food & waste removal - feed them when they're hungry, no matter what time it is or when they last ate.
2 - stop expecting your baby to be content in a quiet & motionless space. They have had the sounds of your body & movement 24/7 - hold them, carry them, snuggle them!
3 - stop judging your performance as a parent. It doesn't matter if this is your first baby or your 5th baby, it is your first experience with *this* baby.
The first few months with a newborn are rough, but you don't have to do it alone. If they are having feeding, burping, pooping, sleeping, excess tension or sensory issues, their bodies are telling you that their nervous system is struggling to adapt to life outside the belly. This is what I've been doing for over 26 years - dm here or call the office to get set up for an eval.
Your first visit with me is 45-60 minutes where we can dig into what your pregnancy and L&D were like, and how baby has been since day one. My exam is gentle, I can show you exactly what I am seeing in real time, and offer recommendations so we can get started right away. The care I provide is safe, gentle, and effective.
We will go over best techniques for feeding, diapering, bathing, carrying, and transporting your baby - tiny tweaks in your routine will help healing & prevent future issues - as well as help your body to feel better when caring for you little one.
It often doesn't take very long to see changes, and as you know...when the baby is happy....so is everyone else 👨👩👦
