It’s been a great week of finding medicinal plants on the 3 hikes I’ve been on in the last 5 days!
TURKEY TAIL is what you see in the basket and man did I find the mother load!! Be on the look out for tinctures of it in the near future. What does it do?
🌿 Immune Support
🦠 Antimicrobial & Antiviral Potential
🎗️ Cancer Support (Adjunctive Use)
In Japan and China, PSK (a turkey tail extract) is approved as an adjunct treatment alongside chemotherapy.
Research shows it may improve survival rates in certain cancers by enhancing immune function.
💪 Gut Health
Contains prebiotic fibers that help nourish beneficial gut bacteria, supporting digestion and overall health.
⚡ Antioxidant Effects
Provides flavonoids and phenols that help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation.
AND I also found GHOST PIPE which is the white plant you see. It’s a plant, not a mushroom and it lacks chlorophyll which is why it’s white BUT a cool fact is, once you put it in alcohol for infusing, it turns a dark purple color.
What’s so great about Ghost Pipe?
🌿 Pain relief – Historically used for strong pain (sometimes described as an “o***m substitute,” though it is not chemically related to o***m). It may dull the perception of pain rather than eliminating it.
🌱 Nervous system support – Traditionally used for anxiety, nervous tension, and emotional distress. Some herbalists describe it as helping people “step outside” their pain or trauma temporarily.
🌿 Sedative properties – mildcalming effects, used for insomnia or agitation.
🌱 Seizures – used for convulsions and epilepsy
My husband has been using this for years as it helps his pain tremendously!
I’m hoping to get more. I have a friend connection that has it growing all over her property in Minnesota, so I’m planning on purchasing large amounts from her when we go home in January.
