Our loving Jonquil “Jonie” McConnell of Hockley, TX passed away on January 21, 2026 at the age of 73. In her passing, we celebrate and honor her deeply caring spirit for all creatures, human and otherwise, particularly dogs and grandchildren, and her genuine warmth and selflessness.

Jonie was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania and grew up in a beautiful farmhouse with a big family atmosphere surrounding her. She inherited her father’s sense of craftsmanship and hearty home DIY project goals and her mother’s culinary skills, particularly visible by her joy of baking at holiday time where she replicated her own mom’s famous buns.

She married Brian Keith McConnell at age 18 and they moved to San Antonio Texas just before their first child was born. Following two children, a divorce and years of living in two Texas towns of Converse and La Vernia, she moved to the Houston area and eventually made Hockley her final home. Jonie’s work ethic was admired by many and after a few college credits, she committed to continuing her service work, from laundry service in Pennsylvania to multiple delicatessen leadership roles, retiring from Albertsons grocery and finishing her employment out at the well-known Buc-ee’s stores.

She is preceded in death by her considerably kind and generous parents, Joseph and Evelyn Moore and her sisters Gloria and Beverly Moore. Beverly spent the last years of her life as sister roommates with Jonie where their support for one another and Beverly’s daughter Marla allowed them to live, laugh and love as only the closest of family can.

Jonie is survived by her brother Larry Moore and wife Jane; daughter Rhonda McConnell Abbott and husband John “Blake”; son Bradley Keith McConnell; grandchildren Jarob Maxwell Abbott, Leithan Connell Abbott, and Kyla Jaelyn McConnell; as well as many other relatives and friends. Jonie enjoyed spending time building puzzles, crafting, conducting house projects, watching her sci-fi programs, being with Beverly, Marla and her dogs and visiting with neighbors. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren, the favorite of those creatures she held so dear.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Jonie’s name to one of the following:
American Heart Association Women’s Health (for advocacy for women heart health)
United Way of Houston (support your neighbors in need)
Houston SPCA (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)

Please join us for a celebration of Jonie’s life on Saturday, January 31st, 2026 at 3 PM at Canon Funeral Home in Waller, TX.

Ann Mills Menke was born at home in Hempstead, TX on August 17, 1942 to F.R. “Goober” Mills and Percy May Mills. The oldest of two girls, she spent her entire childhood in Hempstead and graduated as one of seventeen students from Hempstead High School in 1960. She later attended and graduated from Baylor University in 1963 with a degree in English. She loved her time there and passed that love on to her grandson, Andrew, and nephew, Rob.

Ann met her future husband and the love of her life, Charlie Menke, at the Hempstead barber / beauty shop during high school. After dating in high school and college, they were married on June 14, 1964, and would enjoy 54 years of joyous marriage.

Ann lived life to the full with her warm, outgoing personality making everyone feel loved and accepted, including her children’s friends. She loved investing in people, making them feel welcome, and entertaining in her home. Ann lit up the room when she walked in and never met a stranger. Everyone was drawn to her and loved her sense of fashion and style. Her excitement and enthusiasm for life was contagious.

Ann had a lifelong passion for studying the Bible and teaching others about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship for 40 years and served as the Teaching Leader in the Katy Evening Women’s class for 20 years. Countless women and multiple generations learned about the saving grace of Jesus Christ through her service in BSF.

Additionally, she taught the Bible to both children and adults at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church throughout her life and faithfully played the organ for many years. In addition to supporting her family and home, Ann was a longtime member of The Wednesday Study Club of Hempstead, Texas and the Bellville Evening Bible Study.

Ann was a faithful and devoted wife, a nurturing and supportive mother, a fun and full of life aunt, and a loving and caring “Nana” to her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and could always be convinced to go on a spontaneous adventure regardless of the time or day. She and Charlie took numerous vacations with Kay & Tom Scholl throughout their marriage; they were best friends in addition to being sister and brother-in-law.

Ann was a teacher by nature which stemmed from her love of school. Following in her family’s footsteps, she taught fourth grade until starting her own family and continued teaching her children and grandchildren values she felt were important. Her ultimate goal was to teach them to have a personal relationship with Jesus, study His Word, and serve Him faithfully.

Ann was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be with Him in Heaven on January 16, 2026. Preceded in death by her beloved husband and her parents, she leaves behind her children: Karen, Katherine (Kathy) and husband Aaron Holmes, Mills and wife Adrienne; grandchildren Jake and Andrew Holmes and Adalie, Connor, and Ethan Menke; sister, Kay Scholl, brother-in-law, Tom Scholl, nephews Rob and John Scholl and wife Lindsey, who all look forward to seeing her again in Heaven.

Visitation will be Friday, January 23, 2026 from 5-8pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11am at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church with The Reverend Robert Merrill officiating. Interment will follow at Hempstead Cemetery.

Frank Joseph Linseisen
Retired Air Force Major Frank Linseisen, 91, passed away Jan. 10, 2026.
Frank was born February 5, 1934, to Joseph Linseisen and Katharina Huber, both German immigrants, in Waller, Texas, 40 miles northwest of Houston. He grew up on his family’s farm as one of 10 siblings, in a home that initially had no running water, electricity, or indoor plumbing. Despite the hardships, his fondest memories were of farm life—especially weekends spent selling their produce to restaurants at the Houston Farmers Market.
As valedictorian of his high school class, he was awarded a scholarship to Texas A&M University, where he studied agricultural engineering and joined the Air Force ROTC program within the Corps of Cadets. Shortly after graduation, he was commissioned as an officer and began a distinguished 20-year military career that ended with his retirement in 1975.
He was first trained as a navigator and quickly selected for the elite 6593d Test Squadron (Special), later known as the “Corona Star Catchers,” the first group in space history to complete mid-air recovery of a manmade item from orbit. Cloaked under the Discoverer scientific research program, this project was later revealed to be the secret Cold War Corona spy satellite program that blasted satellites into space to photograph military movement within the Soviet Union and then dropped the film capsules back to earth for mid-air capture and then processing.
After seven years as a navigator, he completed his pilot training, retaining dual ratings as both pilot and navigator—an achievement he was immensely proud of. While stationed at Wheelus Air Base in Tripoli, Libya, he met Patricia Shockley, an elementary school teacher on the base. The couple later transferred to Ramstein Air Base in Germany before returning to the United States to marry and begin their family.
He was twice deployed to Vietnam. There he had many assignments, including serving as a forward air controller in Pleiku, during which he flew more than 90 combat missions and accrued more than 275 combat hours, producing vital reconnaissance, directing and coordinating air strikes and guiding aircraft to identified targets, at times coming under enemy fire in his unarmed aircraft. In one of the most dangerous assignments in the war, he served as part of the heroic Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Group. Flying a Grumman Albatross seaplane, he made more than 165 open sea landings in the rescue of downed bomber crews in the Gulf of Tonkin.
He shared so little about his time in the Air Force that only recently have many of his accomplishments been realized. While with the 6593d squadron, he was credited with the successful first-pass aerial catch of the Discoverer XVIII capsule, 600 miles from the air base in an area of extremely poor navigational aids. In other commendations, he received an Air Medal for rescuing a downed American pilot from within the midst of a large fleet of hostile surface vessels, and another for rescuing four survivors from the Gulf of Tonkin despite bad weather, darkness, rough seas and electronic interference.
In all, he was awarded the Air Medal for significant heroism or meritorious achievement 11 times (10 Oak Leaf clusters); the Air Force Commendation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Combat Readiness Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Air Forces Outstanding Unit Award with 2 Oak Leaf clusters; Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 Oak Leaf clusters; Air Force Medal 900-3; and Meritorious Service Medal Military Airlift Command. His files consistency referenced his skill and precision, professionalism and steadiness under pressure, rating him in the top tier of his officer class. Somewhere along the way, he also managed to acquire a master’s degree in business administration from Southern Illinois University.
After retiring from the Air Force, he began a second career in corporate aviation, preferring to fly small aircraft where he could see both the ground and the sky. He became director of aviation for a global oilfield equipment manufacturer in Houston, overseeing its aviation staff and fleet of jets in the heyday of the oil industry boom in the 1970s and ‘80s. Later, when the company was building a plant in the Four Corners area in Farmington, N.M., he became enamored with the area and asked to be based there instead.
After the company sold its fleet, Frank continued his corporate aviation career in Farmington until the early 1990s, when he became a charter pilot for Four Corners Aviation. In this position, he took on a variety of work, including flight instruction, medical transports, general charters, cross-country pipeline inspections, and occasionally flying visiting celebrities and state politicians. He loved flying so much that his wife would sometimes joke that after his military retirement, he had never worked a day in his life.
After aging out, he spent the final 11 years of his career with Empire Airlines, contracted by FedEx for the daily cargo run between Farmington and Albuquerque, N.M. He retired for the third time at age 76.
Never a man of leisure, his hobbies included home improvement projects, yardwork and gardening, barbecuing and an occasional passion project, such as painstakingly restoring a couple of classic 1950s Jaguar vehicles. He loved being outdoors, and it was never too cold or too hot for long walks, especially with his dog, Ginger.
Despite his travels, he remained solidly down-to-earth, preferring the rugged geography and expansiveness of the Southwest over cityscapes and traffic, blue jeans over dress pants, and home-cooked meals over restaurants. He was quiet, with a simple sense of humor and gentle demeanor, while at the same time, he was known to make others roar with laughter over his colorful expressions and unfiltered way with words. He is also remembered for his remarkable resilience and perseverance, always moving forward no matter what life placed in his path.
Frank is survived by a daughter, Sharmion Linseisen-Kerley, and her husband, Robert; and a son, Jerry “Marty” Linseisen, and his wife, Helen; and three grandchildren, Erik and Anders Linseisen, and Kai Phoenix. He is also survived by brother Carl and his wife, Carole; and brother, James, and his wife, Nancy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his parents; brothers John, Raymond, Edward and Leroy; and sisters, Frieda, Dorothy and Rosemary.
The family expresses its profound gratitude to all the wonderful caregivers who gave their love and support to their father as his Alzheimer’s disease progressed. Their care and compassion will not be forgotten.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Waller Cemetery on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of Canon Funeral Home.

Beverly Joan Thompson Jones passed away on December 14, 2025, at 12:46 in the morning. She was called home by her Lord and Savior in the comfort of her home, under the care of Emerald Hospice, with her sister and husband by her side. Cremation was entrusted to Canon Funeral Home in Waller, Texas. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in accordance with her wishes.

Beverly was born on March 4, 1936, in Hamburg, Iowa, the daughter of John Lawrence Thompson and Thelma Hudson Thompson. She was raised in Sidney, Iowa, with her older brother and younger sister. After graduating from Sidney High School, she moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, where she worked in accounting for Montgomery Ward. It was there that she met the love of her life, William R. Jones. It was love at first sight, and they were married on June 24, 1956.

Beverly and William lived in Iowa for many years while William, whom she always called Bob, worked as a supervisor for UPS. His job required them to move frequently throughout the state. During this time, Beverly worked as a seamstress for Van Ginkel Sporting Goods in Des Moines, Iowa. After William retired following 25 years with UPS, they returned to Shenandoah and acquired several rental properties, which they maintained for many years. In 1997, they moved to Cypress, Texas, to be closer to Beverly’s sister, Janet Thompson Gress.

While living in Cypress, Beverly’s lifelong love for sewing grew even stronger. She joined several sewing guilds and charity quilting groups and found great joy in sewing and in the friendships she made. She truly loved the time she spent with the women she met through those groups. Beverly and William were active in their church and also sponsored a young boy each year through Boys and Girls Country in Hockley, Texas.

In 2018, Beverly and William built a home in Waller, Texas, which became her final home. I know Beverly would want to thank all the people who were part of her life for their kindness and love. My sister was a gifted and deeply caring person, and I was truly blessed to have her in my life. This obituary does not come close to capturing all that she did or the heart she had. Anyone who knew her knew how much she cared. To everyone who was part of her life, she loved you dearly.

Bob and I continue on with heavy hearts. We miss her every day, but I feel her spirit with us daily, encouraging us to keep going until we meet again.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Richard Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, William R. Jones; her sister, Janet Thompson Gress; and family members Rhonda Gress; John and Tammy Gress; Alexis, Dylan, Theo, Christian, and Evyn Gress; Karen and Frank Roessler; Cheryl Thompson and Alan Young; John Thompson and Eric Thompson, along with others who may have been unintentionally missed. Because of her deep love for her fur babies, donations may be made to the ASPCA.

Beverly is in the care of Canon Funeral Home.

12/23/2025

Antonia “Toni” Jozwiak Falk, age 100, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 19, 2025. She was born January 15, 1925, in Chappell Hill, Texas, to Michael Jozwiak and Pelagia Kaminski.

Toni was the beloved wife of Ambrose Falk, whom she married on August 23, 1947. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. In 1963, they moved to Waller, Texas, where she began attending the Catholic parish that would later become St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. That church community remained her spiritual home for the rest of her life.

Ambrose preceded her in death, as did her parents; her sisters Theresa (Joe) Sebesta, Susie (Steve) Cegielski, Martha Jozwiak, and Eva (Tom) Jankowiak; and her brothers Adam (Carrie) Jozwiak, Isadore (Eugenia) Jozwiak, and Sigmund (Martha) Jozwiak. She was also preceded in death by her son Michael, who passed away in infancy.

She is survived by her children Lawrence Falk, Lonnie (Stefanie) Falk, Elaine Jenkins, and Janet (David) Bryant; her grandchildren Karen (Chris) Saunders, Troy (Claudia) Jenkins, Alex (Yuhsuan) Bryant, Brenda (Ben) Earls, Tara (Dave) Hegermiller, and Amanda Falk; and her great-grandchildren Annie Saunders, Sadie Saunders, Ty Jenkins, Lily Jenkins, Everett Hegermiller, Lily Hegermiller, and Josie Bryant. Toni is also survived by many nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

Toni was a faithful member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church and was a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters for more than 50 years. Her faith was not something she merely spoke about. It was something she lived every day. She prayed countless rosaries, attended Mass faithfully, and served the Lord at every opportunity.

Toni was well read and an avid lifelong reader, always curious and engaged with the world around her. She enjoyed a good game of dominoes and was known for her sharp mind and steady hand at the table. In her family, she will forever be remembered as the best pie maker, a title she earned many times over and wore quietly, just like everything else she did.

To her family, Toni was the embodiment of the Proverbs 31 woman. She cared for her family tirelessly and was always ready to help a neighbor or a friend, never complaining and always giving. She taught by example, showing her children and grandchildren the value of a fair day’s work, the importance of family, stewardship, generosity, and daily worship.

Her kitchen was the heart of her home. Family will forever remember her working behind the counter, quietly performing her magic. Fried pies made from pears picked from her own tree, homemade pizza, frozen corn, plum jelly, pecan pie, and so much more. She grew and prepared food with love. Tomatoes, cucumbers, cantaloupe, and okra were always shared generously, and no one ever left her home hungry.

Toni was there for every move and every new baby brought home, and for every moment when strength was needed. She washed countless loads of laundry, tended gardens, cooked endless meals, sewed and hand embroidered with care, and offered more prayers than can ever be counted, all in the names of her children and grandchildren. She did not preach her values. She lived them.

Her life was a quiet sermon of faith, perseverance, humility, and love. It was a marvelous example for all who were blessed to know her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Building Fund, 800 FM 1488, Hempstead, TX 77445.

Visitation will be Monday, December 29, 2025 from 5-7pm at Canon Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 10am at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church with Fr. Xavier Bilavendiran officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
