We’re incredibly grateful to be recognized by the Mental Health Connecticut community.
When we created Synergy Health & Wellness, the vision was to build a place where people could work on both mental and physical wellness together instead of separately.
Counseling. Movement. Fitness. Recovery. Community.
All connected.
Thank you to everyone who has trusted us, supported us, and believed in this mission. We’re just getting started 💚💙
Each Wednesday in May for , we’ll share expert insights on the many dimensions of wellness that contribute to overall well-being, because each area is deeply connected to and supports our mental health.
First up with physical wellness is T.J. Dowling with Synergy Health and Wellness in Wallingford! "At Synergy Health & Wellness, we support physical wellness as a foundational pillar of mental health. Through our Synergetic Therapy™ model, we integrate psychotherapy with personal training, nutrition guidance, and lifestyle coaching so individuals can strengthen their mental and physical well being at the same time rather than treating them as separate areas of care."
T.J. shares that in his experience as a licensed therapist, personal trainer, and endurance athlete, movement is one of the most powerful tools we have for improving mental health. Regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, restorative sleep, and healthy lifestyle habits can help reduce anxiety and depression, improve mood and energy, strengthen cognitive function, and increase resilience to stress.
Running has played a meaningful role in his own life as well. Endurance training has always given him a space for reflection, emotional processing, and working through his own challenges. It has been a place where he has been able to confront obstacles, build resilience, and reconnect with a sense of purpose.
"When the opportunity came to run across the entire state of Connecticut to raise awareness for mental health, it almost felt like the challenge chose me. The Cross Connecticut Run combined my two biggest passions: running and mental health awareness."
"Movement truly is a form of mental healthcare. That belief is what inspired me to create Synergy Health & Wellness, and it is the same belief that inspired me to race across Connecticut to help highlight the powerful connection between physical health and mental health. My hope is that conversations like this help more people realize that taking care of their body can be one of the most effective ways to take care of their mind."
