👀❓ What would you do if suddenly something went very, very wrong at the start of one of the most important days of your life?

The water was unseasonably warm and filled with jellyfish 🪼 at Ironman Maryland in September 2021. Within minutes I was stung on my hands, face, and neck (photos attached). The reactions lasted the entire race—😩😵 extreme fatigue and the constant thought that my body was shutting down.

After nearly 15 hours ⏱️, I crossed that finish line 🏁 and learned this:

Both cardio and strength training are effective; a brisk 20-30 minute walk can lift your mood for hours, while resistance workouts have been shown to reduce symptoms of depression. (2020 – COVID)
“Even when the world shuts down, you can face adversity with determination, creativity, and perseverance to achieve your goals.”

In September 2020, I was set to complete my first full Ironman Triathlon.
Then COVID hit. The race was canceled. But I had already put in the work—years of training, recovery from surgeries, and a mindset built for finishing what I start.

So I created my own finish line.
Mapped out a solo course.
On a Wednesday, during the work week, I took the day off—and completed a full Ironman, alone.

15 hours. No crowd. No medal. Just gratitude, grit, and commitment.
