What started as a small program with six sports has grown into 17 adaptive sports serving over 250 participants each year, including sled hockey, rock climbing, golf, and triathlons.

Karen Smith, diagnosed with MS in 1990, refused to let her diagnosis stop her from skiing. Today she manages the sled hockey team and helps others discover their own abilities.

Tara O’Neil, a bilateral amputee, never imagined she could compete. She now rock climbs, water skis, snowboards, bikes, and participates in triathlons.

Thanks to the vision of Ken Murphy and the dedication of staff such as Todd Munn and Katie Joly, the Ga***rd Sports Association has grown into a thriving community where anyone with a passion for sports can participate regardless of ability.

Here is to 30 years of courage, community, and competition and many more to come!

This CT rehabilitation hospital has offered adaptive sports from golf to sled hockey to rock climbing for the last 30 years.

Yesterday’s 4th Annual Bullseye Archery Tournament brought together adaptive athletes who showed their skill and supported one another all day long.

Ga***rd Hospital helped athletes overcome personal challenges and build lifelong friendships during its fourth annual bullseye archery tournament on Tuesday.

Today’s Ga***rd Bullseye Classic brought together adaptive archers to put their skills to the test in our annual tournament!

After a season of hard work, these athletes showed off their precision and determination—especially battling the wind today!

Thanks to everyone who came out, including competitors, volunteers, and spectators, for making it such a fantastic day.

What an amazing Sled Hockey Clinic! 🏒❄️

We had a great turnout of athletes eager to learn about and try sled hockey this past Sunday — everyone did fantastic, especially for their first time on the ice!

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers from Ga***rd Specialty Healthcare, Quinnipiac University, and UConn School of Medicine, as well as to Choate Rosemary Hall for donating the ice time and of course our team sponsor, the Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation, for their continued support. 🙌

This wonderful nonprofit helps stroke survivors regain strength and confidence through Spokes Adaptive Cycling. They shared their experiences and highlighted how movement can support recovery.
