Women are often praised for how much they give, how much they endure, how little they ask for.
Caretaking is celebrated. Self-neglect is normalized.
From a psychological and wellness perspective, this is not strength—it’s conditioning.
Taking care of yourself is not vanity. It’s regulation.
Investing in your confidence is not indulgence. It’s agency.
Wanting to feel good in your body is not something that needs to be justified.
Men are encouraged to optimize, upgrade, invest, and refine—without apology. Women, on the other hand, are taught to explain themselves for doing the same. This imbalance quietly erodes self-worth and reinforces the idea that women should stay small, grateful, and self-sacrificing.
It’s time to normalize women choosing themselves.
To stop vilifying confidence.
To recognize that self-care—whether emotional, physical, or aesthetic—is a valid, healthy form of self-respect.
When women feel confident, regulated, and supported, they don’t become selfish.
They become grounded. Present. Powerful.
And that benefits everyone.
This year, I hope you learn to prioritize yourself, and feel that you truly deserve it. Because you do.
