Let's work together to remind you of your brilliant light, so you might shine it for others to see who you really are and to light the path for those who need it.

Women and Wine...the stuff of fun connections, inside jokes, social acceptance and the focus of groups. But is it really fun/funny/no big deal? Sadly, no. Here's a great article about just that...and it happens to be written by my sister, Patti Clark. 💗

There's no question alcohol in its many forms is a huge part of the American and world culture. Not unlike cigarettes/smoking, more and more research is pointing to how dangerous alcohol really is. Not just for alcoholics, but for everyone. No amount is "safe." And the myth that any alcohol, including red wine, is actually healthy or "good for you." has long been dispelled. It will take a long time for the culture to catch up I'm sure, but the research is clear.

"The latest studies show that ANY amount of alcohol can cause Cancer! Is this worth the risk?"

And an interview that discusses this further:

The Royal Society Te Aparangi is releasing a factsheet this morning aimed at countering myths around the benefits of drinking alcohol. University of Otago Emeritus Professor Jennie Connor spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.

We can feel "love" when we're in a new relationships. But real love, enduring love, requires our attention, willingness, acceptance and consistent practice. Not an easy ask always. But so worth it. Let's rethink our expectations and attitudes. Let's practice Love and heal our own world - and the world as a whole.

Sometimes, thinking about doing something new, changing our lives so we can let go of a past that didn't serve us and is creating a present we don't like let alone love, seems unbearably hard. But. The alternative is actually harder in that we stay stuck and unhappy and lose respect for ourselves. So take that first step.

You are so worth it!

It isn't easy to "just sit" when lots of feelings are present, but the healing and growing connection with yourself is so worth the future you will create when you feel safe with your own heart and process; when you stop running from the wonder that is you.

Despite the intense and rampant presence of addiction in my family of origin, on both sides, we were gifted with some generational wonders as well, most especially in the realm of incredible Italian meals. My sister and I were asked to write an article about our connection to our mom and cooking and it was recently published on this site. I hope you enjoy it. And maybe even try the recipe! Feel free to ask questions. Click the link in the comment below for the full article.

(by Karin Clark and Patti Clark)The fragrant scent of rosemary and simmered short ribs wafted from the kitchen, assuring us that we were, indeed, at Grandma’s house. The two of us ran from the front door to the bedroom, which existed as a shrine to our mother and her two sisters. Three twin beds s...

I'll never forget when someone said this to me. I was terrified, enraged, felt judged and overwhelmed. But underneath there was also a part that said, "Well, that seems about right. If my life isn't working in nearly any way, it makes sense I have to change everything."

Slowly, with lots of feedback and support from those we trust and feel safe with, we look for new ways to do what we've always done in a different way. And the result is a life that feels different; better. And a life that works a lot better as well.

I know not everyone can open this - if you don't have a digital NYT subscription you can't - and I am sorry. If it is of interest, I hope you will ask a friend who does have one to send it to you as a gift. That said, the title belies the reality of the stark crisis among teens that the article goes on to describe in detail. Yes, it is good that the sadness among teen girls and boys is better than it was mid pandemic, but it is still at crisis levels. And suicidal thoughts among teens is at frightening levels.

We need to see our teens and get them the support they need! And while professional help is part of that, teens thrive and improve with other teens.

If you know a teen who seems sad or have heard parents talk about a teen of theirs who is struggling, please share the new group forming as the new school year begins in the next month!

A national survey found promising signs that key mental health measures for teens, especially girls, have improved since the depths of the pandemic.
