Being a middle schooler can feel like living in between—wanting more independence, while still needing support. Emotions grow bigger, friendships become more complex, and it’s not always easy to put those experiences into words. For parents, this stage can feel just as confusing—wondering how to stay connected while everything seems to be shifting.

Therapy creates space for both.

For teens, it’s a place to explore what they’re feeling, build confidence, and make sense of who they are becoming. For parents, it offers insight into their child’s inner world and guidance on how to respond with understanding.

At Little Dove, we support the developmental needs of adolescents through connection, creativity, and compassion—helping both teens and parents feel heard, understood, and more connected. Because when both sides feel seen, relationships can grow alongside the child.

Parenting can bring moments where everything feels loud, overwhelming, or uncertain.

In parent-child therapy, we often remind caregivers that their regulation helps guide the moment. A pause, a breath, or a small shift toward connection can change the tone of an interaction.

These reminders are meant for the moments in the middle of the storm. Save these for a hard day—you’re not alone in those moments.

Children’s brains are constantly developing through their relationships. When caregivers respond to big feelings with attention, curiosity, and connection, those moments help strengthen the brain’s pathways for regulation, trust, and resilience.

As psychiatrist Dan Siegel explains, where our attention goes, neural connections grow-- that means we can help grow our child’s good thinking brain by focusing on understanding their emotions! When we seek to understand, especially during challenging behaviors, we support the development of emotional safety and connection.

Parent-child therapy can help families strengthen these moments of connection and navigate big feelings together.

Little Dove Counseling was born from a deep belief that connection is the foundation of healing and family life.

Our founder, Anna Sasser-Christian, grew up in a big, beautifully blended family—nine siblings connected through adoption, foster care, and birth. From an early age, she learned that what truly holds a family together isn’t sameness, but relationship.

At Little Dove, our mission is to help children, parents, and families build the kind of connections that carry them through both the hard and the lovely parts of life.

Because every family deserves to feel safe, seen, and connected.

Being a teen can feel like living between worlds—old enough to think deeply, but still learning how to carry big emotions. Therapy gives teens a space that’s completely theirs—a place to explore who they are, what they feel, and where they’re headed.

At Little Dove Counseling, we help teens navigate anxiety, identity, friendships, and self-esteem through connection, creativity, and compassion. Because when a teen feels understood, healing and growth naturally follow.

Playing together strengthens relationships. Whether it’s building towers, racing cars, or cooperative games, shared play helps kids attach to the adults who matter most. Connection is the foundation for learning, regulation, and confidence.

A 6-week journey to slow down, reconnect, and strengthen your relationship with your child.

This group is for caregivers who want to understand why children behave the way they do—and how to bring more calm, connection, and confidence into daily family life. Together, we’ll explore the science of attachment, co-regulation, and the nervous system in a warm, supportive space.

Learn. Reflect. Connect. Heal.

Because when you feel grounded, your child feels safe.
