Music has a way of meeting people exactly where they are. 🎶💛

We recently had the joy of welcoming Skylar Wondrusch, whose voice filled the room and created moments of connection, calm, and pure presence for the seniors she sang to. Experiences like this are a beautiful reminder that care goes far beyond tasks. It’s about community, dignity, and showing up with heart.

This is just one example of how our team gives back to the communities we serve, inspired by leaders like Francesca Vogel and carried forward by everyone at Hillendale.

March is National Nutrition Month, a reminder that nutritional needs change as we age—and that understanding those changes can make daily caregiving a little easier.

For this article, we spoke with nutritionist Gwen Holtan, who helped explain how aging affects appetite, protein needs, hydration, and overall nutrition, and what caregivers and families can do to better support seniors at home.

If you’re caring for an older adult and wondering how to adapt meals and routines over time, this guide offers practical, compassionate insights.

✨ Meet Jeanette ✨

With over a decade of experience in healthcare, Jeanette brings deep expertise in staffing, coordination, and operations to her role as Staffing Manager at Hillendale Home Care.

Before joining Hillendale, Jeanette supported pediatric patients as a Client Service Coordinator, recruiting and scheduling LVNs and RNs. She later moved into Assisted Living and Memory Care as a Business Office Manager, where she truly learned what it means to wear many hats while supporting residents and care teams across departments.

Jeanette is passionate about serving seniors, who she lovingly calls “her people.” She finds purpose in helping seniors navigate the next chapter of their lives and takes pride in making a meaningful difference, whether big or small.

Today, Jeanette thrives in the fast-paced world of staffing. She loves problem-solving and takes special care in matching each client with their perfect caregiver, knowing those connections make a real impact for both families and caregivers alike.

Outside of work, Jeanette enjoys traveling, spending time with family, crafting, and canvas painting. She feels most at peace near the water. 🌊

She recently completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and is currently awaiting her state exam, pursuing hands-on clinical training to better support both caregivers and Hillendale’s growing client community.

Care happens in moments.

On National Caregiver Day, we’re grateful for the caregivers who show up in ways that often go unseen — through small, steady moments that make a real difference in someone’s day.

Preparing a favorite meal.
Offering reassurance when something feels off.
Encouraging a short walk.
Creating calm, safe spaces.
Sharing a laugh when it’s needed most.

To the caregivers who bring patience, presence, and heart to this work: thank you. We see you, and we’re deeply grateful for the care you provide every day.

🌟 Caregiver Spotlight: Meet Greisha B. 🌟

Greisha is an outstanding caregiver who brings warmth, patience, and genuine compassion to every client she serves. With over four years of caregiving experience in both home and care facility settings, she consistently goes above and beyond to create meaningful connections and provide dependable, heartfelt support.

What Greisha loves most about being a caregiver is the opportunity to be a companion, offering comfort, presence, and care that truly improves her clients’ everyday quality of life. It’s no surprise that we regularly hear positive feedback from the families she supports.

When she’s not caregiving, Greisha enjoys reading, taking walks at the park, and cooking. She also shared that what sets Hillendale apart is the recognition caregivers receive and the strong, consistent communication between caregivers and clients.

💙 Thank you, Greisha, for the incredible care you provide every day.

February is American Heart Month, a time to focus on the everyday habits that support heart health, especially for older adults living with heart disease. ❤️

Caregivers play an important role in supporting cardiac health at home by helping with things like:

🥗 Healthy meals & groceries
Supporting heart-healthy eating by helping with meal prep, grocery shopping, and consistent routines around meals.

⏰ Medication reminders
Helping clients stay on track with prescribed routines so medications are taken consistently and as directed by their care team.

🚗 Transportation to appointments
Making it easier to attend follow-ups, cardiac rehab, and routine check-ins without added stress.

🚶 Light physical activity
Encouraging safe movement like short walks or gentle activity, based on what feels comfortable and appropriate.

💛 Stress management & companionship
Providing calm, steady companionship that reduces isolation and helps lower day-to-day stress.

At Hillendale Home Care, we support individuals living with heart disease, CHF, and other cardiac conditions with compassionate, nonmedical care at home.

Giving back where we live is part of who we are at Hillendale.

This week, we’re spotlighting Francesca Vogel and the way she leads by example when it comes to community service. From supporting local senior living communities to showing up for events and partnerships that enrich the lives of older adults, her commitment sets the tone for how we show up as a company.

Because of that leadership, giving back isn’t an initiative at Hillendale — it’s a shared value. Our entire team follows Francesca’s example, staying connected, involved, and invested in the communities we serve.
