A Firefighter sent me this:

Check your furnace exhaust vents regularly. A frozen vent can trap carbon monoxide in your house. Carbon monoxide is odorless and tasteless. But it can asphyxiate you causing injury and even death.

Be safe everyone!

CO2

Carbon monoxide is an invisible killer. If you were affected by the recent winter storm, make sure you're heating your home safely!

If you're using a fuel-burning appliance or machine, such as a furnace, heater, or generator, ensure it's working and vented properly.

• Test CO alarms so they are ready to give early warnings.
• Make sure vents for the dryer, furnace, stove, and fireplace are clear of snow.
• Use portable generators outdoors, away from doors, windows, and vents.

🚨 Public Safety Reminder: Clear Your Vents After the Snowstorm 🚨

After this significant snowfall, please take a few minutes to check and clear snow and ice from all outdoor vents—including furnace, dryer, and hot water heater vents.

❄️ Blocked vents can cause dangerous carbon monoxide buildup inside your home.
❄️ Make sure vents are clear by at least 3 feet in all directions.
❄️ If your carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone outside immediately and call 911.

A few minutes of prevention can save lives. Stay safe and stay warm! 💙

❄️ Winter Weather Alert: Don't Let Ice Catch You Off Guard! ❄️

Ice can turn everyday steps into serious slip hazards—especially for children and older adults, who are at higher risk for falls and injuries.

Take these simple steps to protect yourself and your loved ones:

🧊Clear and treat driveways, walkways, stairs, and entryways—remove snow and apply salt, sand, or cat litter for better traction.

🧊Improve lighting outdoors so you can spot icy patches in low-light conditions.

🧊Take it slow — walk like a penguin (short steps, flat feet, arms out for balance) and stay aware of your surroundings on slippery surfaces.

Your safety is our priority this winter. Stay Winter Ready and share these tips with family and friends!

🥶❄️ IT’S THAT KIND OF COLD ❄️🥶

If you needed a visual explanation of how cold it’s about to get… this pretty much covers it.

We’re heading into dangerously cold temperatures tonight and over the next few days — the kind of cold where:
• The air hurts your face
• Your car makes noises it’s never made before
• And apparently… chickens start rethinking their life choices 🍗

🌡️ WHAT TO EXPECT
• Overnight lows dropping into the teens and single digits
• Sub-zero wind chills at times
• Little relief during the day — it stays cold, rude, and relentless

🔥 PLEASE DO THE IMPORTANT STUFF
• Bring pets inside
• Check on elderly neighbors
• Protect exposed pipes
• Limit time outdoors
• If you lose power, this cold becomes a serious problem fast

😂 FRIENDLY REMINDER
If you’re standing outside wondering, “Is it really that cold?” — yes. Yes it is.

Stay warm, Walpole Residents. This cold means business. 💙❄️
