"We thought it was time to get into this century and set up a page. First a little history about us! Boies-Ortega Funeral Home was established in 1918, first as a Livery Stable. If you were to come and tour our newly remodeled home, you will see the stable doors entering into our chapel and showroom. In the beginning it was known as Unfug-Peet Undertaking and in 1959 sold to Howard Buress, who in turn sold it to James Boies in 1969. Those of us that grew up in Walsenburg remember the many names collaborating with Jim Boies, but eventually upon Jim's retirement in 1996, Boies-Ortega remained, honoring the long time commitment of the Ortega family to the funeral home. In 2007, William Holt, purchased the home, returning it to family owned and operated, adding to his already long list of owned operations of funeral homes and cemeteries in Colorado since his family started in 1922. Today, Bill's children, Trey Holt and Beth Holt-Madone, own and operate with native resident Elisa Tesitor Ingoldby at the helm as administrator and funeral director." Call us for a tour or just stop by and say "Hello!"
