THERE ARE NO BAD MOVEMENTS.

Our favorite saying is, “There are no bad movements, only a lack of preparedness for said movement”

Everything should be taken within context. You cannot say that someone who has trained specific movements at high loads, as a component of their sport, is performing a “bad movement”. Yes, it may be unsuitable for a beginner, but it does not make it off-limits.

Research has shown that IMMOBILITY is bad for you…not movement.

Why don’t we celebrate what you CAN do and keep moving. In any way you want to!

Stop shaming movement and start preaching it.

WHY DON’T PEOPLE EXERCISE MORE?

EFFORT: It’s hard to put the physical in physical therapy.

Let’s break down barriers to exercise and how your physical therapist can address the topic. PT is all about finding solutions, not problems.

TIME: “I don’t have time” or “I don’t prioritize exercise” can sometimes feel shame inducing when you are talking to people about reasons you couldn’t make it to the gym or finish your PT home routine.

BARRIERS: Start finding a single step solution on how you can stay on track, stay healthy and stay moving.

~*Exercise does not always have to be in a gym*~

KNOWLEDGE: Physical therapists are movement specialists and can help get you moving, set up a plan and become successful in reaching your goals.

DO LESS IN PT?

I don’t know about you, but nobody has time for ANYTHING these days!

At BEFORM we focus on not always doing something, but how we can do less, BETTER.

We design our plans of care for you based on your current function, your goals where you want to be, and the time and resources you have.

More is not always better, and what is trendy on social media or some one-fix all programming may not be the best for you.

Don’t get me wrong, we will absolutely give you the most effective dose of what you need, but it does not always have to mean your rehab program looks completely separate from what you want to do!

And for some people, that could be multiple sessions/day, participating in challenges, etc

Your rehab should look like your lifestyle!

Find what works for you, and a provider that under stands that!

We challenge you to ask yourself, what can you do less of to be better in your lifestyle?

WHY REST IS NOT ALWAYS BEST

Injuries occur when your activity or training is increased faster than your capacity or tolerance for those movements

Yes, resting allows your symptoms to improve

BUT

Resting also reduces your capacity for those movements.

So, when you return back to those activities, you are at risk of exceeding capacity AGAIN by returning too fast

And repeat...

How do we rehab without resting?

1. Keep your capacity high with non irritating activities
2. Avoid the repetitive injury cycle
3. Provide modifications for the irritating activity to use it as much as you can tolerate

Modify and keep moving!

FOAM ROLLING - PRE OR POST EXERCISE?

Do you know why are you doing it?

We all have been guilty of foam rolling pre-, post- and maybe even intro-workout!

Foam rolling is technically termed “self-myofascial release of soft tissue”. The underlying mechanisms are still relatively unknown, but there is emerging research to show its benefit on reducing neuromuscular fatigue.

Foam rolling pre-workout has been shown to improve subjective feelings of soreness and pain

Regenerative foam rolling (post workout) was demonstrated to show some benefit in preventing muscular fatigue.

This means that if you want to foam roll, doing it after a hard leg day or back day, you will likely get the best outcome in limiting your post workout soreness!
