Do you have a student who stutters on your caseload and questions about how to best support them? Are you wondering where to go next or where to begin?

Check the calendar link in our bio to join us for this next meeting in our office hours series to connect with colleagues interested in improving their clinical practice with people who stutter! Whether stuttering is an area of challenge or lower confidence in your clinical practice, an area of comfort, or anything in between, we invite you to this collaborative problem-solving discussion with a group of SLPs with expertise in stuttering and other disfluency profiles. We will discuss clinical insights, brainstorm ideas with you, and work toward answers.

You are welcome to bring one or two key questions about a particular client/student, stuttering in general, or simply to come with your curiosity to listen and learn more. Depending on the number of attendees, we will be able to take up to 15 minutes to discuss each case.

We are back this Dysphagia Awareness Monday to highlight the multitude of disciplines that support and treat people with dysphagia. Dysphagia occurs and may be treated at all levels of the continuum of care.

MSHA is closely monitoring the impact of recent changes to the definition of “licensed” speech-language pathologist in the provision of Medicare Part B services. While we determine our next course of action for the state of Massachusetts, ASHA is actively advocating to reverse these changes on a national level. Ready to enhance your skills in assessing bilingual students? Take advantage of summer break and register for MSHA’s July Self-Study course, designed for SLPs working in urban school settings. Learn to identify the stages of second language acquisition as well as make the key distinctions between a language disorder and difference. Boston Public Schools SLP Rebecca Rivera Rivera joins us to explore these important considerations for more accurate and equitable assessments.

Based on a national survey Adkins, et al. found that several Americans silently suffer with dysphagia. Encourage those you know with difficulty swallowing to seek help!
