Happy Friday! My name is Twyla Everett, and I am the owner of 🏋️♀️ Level Up Fitness and Wellness Center! 🏋️♀️ I am a personal trainer, muscular therapist, coach, dancer, wife, and mother of twins 👯, as well as a friend to all! I have owned my business for 14 years, and when I started in this industry, it was definitely a man's world. Women spent most of their time at the gym on cardio machines, while the male members hit the weights. As a Professional, we were only commonly accepted as fitness coaches if they specialized in Zumba, yoga, Pilates, or walking. While all of those are amazing approaches to health, I became passionate about weightlifting and building muscle. I spent the next decade trying to figure out how to find happiness in an industry that didn't seem ready for a rise in female strength trainers. 💪
Now? Well, look around! As women, we have carved our name in the stone of strength! We are Coaches, triathletes, Olympians, Everyday Athletes, and Business Owners, and we are finally able to start taking control of our own body's health!
When I first started Level Up, I wanted No Woman to be afraid of the bar, and now you can go to any gym and see that WE LIFT WEIGHTS 🏋️♀️! 14 years later, I’m a certified professional in areas like Prenatal/Postpartum, Perimenopause, Pain-Free Performance, Medical Massage and Nutrition. I help people manage pain, balance hormones, avoid injuries, and adopt exercise as a positive lifestyle.
14 years… I can't tell you it's not exhausting work. I can't tell you I don't wake up with doubts occasionally. I can't tell you I don't miss my kids on these long days. But I can tell you that it is worth every penny when I get to celebrate my health by watching my kids hysterically laugh while we chase each other like zombies. It's worth it when my client's mother comes to me and says "Her scoliosis is back in the normal range", when we finally cut through years of stubborn weight gain from menopause, when a New Mother feels strong and well-prepared for the challenges ahead of her, or when a client wakes up with no pain to report. It reminds me just how far I have come!
This speech from captures my feelings perfectly this month, and serves as a great way to reintroduce myself! https://page.fo/cynthiaerivo
