Nova Biomedical is proud to celebrate that the study « Une goutte de sang et une goutte d’urine » (A Drop of Blood and a Drop of Urine) was recently honored with the Health Cooperation Award from Coopération Santé.

This groundbreaking study screened 1,200 individuals for chronic kidney disease (CKD) across 16 sites in just 10 days in the Occitania region of France.

Led by Pr. Jean-Paul Cristol at the Université de Montpellier in collaboration with France REIN, Fondation Charles Mion AIDER Santé, CPTS, Groupe INOVIE, Nova Biomedical’s team guided by Dr. Stefano Favero, and local healthcare professionals, the study leveraged Nova’s Nova Max Pro® and Allegro® analyzers to provide rapid, accurate kidney function testing using only a finger-prick of capillary blood and a drop of urine.

Results showed that 16-20% of participants had impaired kidney function and 2–3% required nephrology referral, demonstrating that early, community-based CKD detection is both feasible and effective.

We are honored to support this collaboration, which advances early diagnosis and management of CKD, and sets a model for future community-based screening initiatives.

Preliminary findings will be presented at the Société Francophone de Néphrologie, Dialyse et Transplantation (SFNDT) congress on October 8. We invite you to join us to learn how point-of-care testing is transforming kidney health.
