Why did Hancock’s 6th graders visit Delarc?
Because inclusion is something you learn through experience.
Nine students from Hancock Central School spent the day at Delarc participating in hands-on activities that focused on look, touch, listen, and movement. Through these experiences, students gained a better understanding of how people with intellectual and developmental disabilities experience the world.
The visit was designed to build empathy, awareness, and a deeper understanding of inclusion in their schools and community.
At Delarc, we believe education and connection help create a more inclusive future. Thank you to the Hancock 6th graders for spending the day with us and for being open to learning about inclusion and acceptance. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help inspire the next generation of advocates.
