Being a special needs parent means your life looks different. It feels different and unless someone has lived it, they will never fully understand.

For over 10 years, I sat on the edge of my seat constantly scanning every room, thinking ten steps ahead, leaving mid conversation, wondering if we should even go at all. There were the quiet exclusions, not being invited back, and then seeing the photos the next day of everyone together. That kind of loss is real. It’s your loss because we’re awesome! 😎

But alongside that loss, there is a different kind of joy.

My son is one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. He makes my heart glow in a way I can’t fully put into words. He taught my other son unconditional love and kindness, so he expects the same in return.
Our journey may not have looked the way I once imagined, but it led me somewhere deeper. I created a peaceful home. I became more aware, more intuitive, more connected to gifts I may have never discovered otherwise.

My son is brilliant and his future will unfold in its own perfect way. 🦉

As for the comments like “it could be worse” or “just be grateful”. I’ve learned I don’t need to stay in spaces where I feel unseen. My peace matters more.

Today, I choose a different way of living. I release the chronic stress and the constant worry that once lived so deeply in my body. I don’t let it take over anymore.
