We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that your New Year is even better! We would like to remind our clients that the office will be closed this Thursday, January 1st in observance of New Year's Day. We will be back open Friday, January 2nd.

Just a small reminder that Santa will be in the clinic tomorrow from 10-12:30 to take pictures with your pets. Please call when you get to the parking lot, and tell us that you are here to see Santa since this will be during our regular office hours. We are pleased to announce that beginning January 2026, Dr. Laura (Powell) Fernandez will see patients at Auglaize Animal Hospital by appointment only on Wednesdays from 8:00 AM–12:30 PM. While our clinic has traditionally operated on a walk-in model and remained closed on Wednesdays, Dr. Laura’s addition allows us to offer dedicated appointment-based care for pets who require more individualized attention and follow-up.
Dr. Laura brings nearly 10 years of clinical experience with strong professional interests in internal medicine, dermatology, and behavior. She is an excellent diagnostician and is passionate about developing thorough, collaborative treatment plans—especially for pets with chronic or complex medical needs.
Ideal candidates for Wednesday appointments include dogs and cats with:
● Endocrine disorders (Diabetes Mellitus, Addison’s Disease, Cushing’s Disease, Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism)
â—Ź Chronic skin or ear issues
â—Ź Behavioral concerns (A behavioral questionnaire will be provided prior to the appointment)
â—Ź Chronic illnesses requiring ongoing monitoring (autoimmune, gastrointestinal, etc.)
â—Ź Long-standing symptoms without a confirmed diagnosis

This Friday the 12th, Santa will be here taking pictures with pets from 10 am to 12:30 pm. In order to minimize traffic in the building, we ask that you please call from your vehicle once you arrive. We will place you on a list just like we do with our walk-ins. We kindly ask that you please remain in your vehicle until you are called in. We are so excited and cannot wait for Santa to come and see everyone!

Great news for our clients!
We are now offering Bravecto Quantum-a yearly injection for flea and tick prevention! You read that right, just like the Proheart injection for heartworm prevention, Bravecto Quantum works the same way! A few things we would like to mention about this:
1. Quantum has the same active ingredient as the chewable Bravecto that lasts 3 months, and has been researched thoroughly for safety and effectiveness.
2. The side effects are limited and mild, just like the monthly oral preventions for heartworm and flea/tick.
3. Quantum guarantees no missed doses of prevention, perfect for busy clients and our doggos that don't take oral meds as well as others!
Dr. Maddy does recommend that we separate the Bravecto Quantum injection from vaccines or Proheart injections by a couple of weeks, just as a precaution since some patients don't always feel their best after vaccines anyways. If you are interested in it, call our office and make an appointment or be sure to mention it when you're here for your dogs' annual well visit!
