To all of our patients, family and friends,

The Triad family was deeply saddened by today’s news that as of January 1st, 2020, the Maternity center at Tobey Hospital will cease operations. Triad itself will continue to provide OB and GYN care at our location in Wareham. Starting on January 1st, our deliveries will now be done at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. Although we will miss Tobey greatly, we look forward to being able to utilize available resources and offer additional procedures at St. Luke’s including providing vaginal births after cesarean, and a Level 2 nursery among others. We welcome you to contact the office with any questions or concerns you may have. As always, we would like to thank all our wonderful patients for their confidence in us, and we will continue to provide the highest level of care as we move forward into this next chapter at Triad.

Sincerely,

Dr. Robert Tripp, DO, FACOOG
Dr. John MacFarlane, MD, FACOG
Dr. Judson Boisvert, MD, FACOG
Carolina Lopes, WHNP-C, MS
Beckie Hebert, CNM, MS

When selecting your pregnancy/delivery/obstetric team:

1- Would you want to know all the providers who might do your delivery?

There is a national trend to have outside providers cover the delivery duties. You may have never met these "laborists" who are hired to do the labor and delivery work until the day you arrive in labor, or other Obstetrical providers in the community who you also do not know. At TRIAD OB/GYN we cover all of our own deliveries. Throughout the pregnancy you will meet each provider so the person doing your delivery is not a complete stranger. This gives you the opportunity to develop a relationship with your providers BEFORE the all important delivery day.

2- Would you want a friendly and attentive nursing staff who is very supportive while you are in labor?

At TOBEY HOSPITAL many of our nurses have also been patients and delivered their babies at Tobey and know how important it is to have personalized nursing care.

3- Does a Baby Friendly Hospital designation appeal to you?

The TOBEY HOSPITAL MAKEPEACE CENTER FOR WOMEN AND FAMILIES was the second hospital and the first community hospital in Massachusetts to receive the Baby Friendly Hospital designation and was recently re-certified confirming our commitment to this quality approach. Breastfeeding is recommended for most moms, BUT please be reassured those who choose to bottle feed are also supported.

4- Would you want a team of providers who has spent their entire careers doing the little things to minimize your chances of having a cesarean delivery?

Cesarean deliveries are a very important and necessary tool to help moms and babies when things are not going as planned. The Healthy People 2020 (US Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion) national cesarean rate goal for the year 2020 is 23.9 %. TOBEY HOSPITAL in Wareham has already been below that rate for most of the last 29 years. The national rate for low risk pregnant moms at term is around 27%; for other moms the rate is even higher nationally. (If your pregnancy requires a cesarean, be sure to ask us about the "gentle cesarean" option.)

5- Would a whirlpool bath type tub in your delivery room appeal to you?

Unlike most of the hospitals in the area, at TOBEY HOSPITAL ALL OF THE LABOR ROOMS have whirlpool bath type tubs. So, if relaxing in the tub while you are in labor sounds appealing, please give TRIAD OBGYN a call for your prenatal appointment.

6- Would you like access to a Certified Nurse Midwife for advice and support?

We are proud to have you meet with Rebecca Butler CNM. She received her midwifery degree from Frontier Nursing School in Kentucky and completed her clinical training at Women and Infant's Hospital in Providence.

At Triad ObGyn we are committed to providing kind, compassionate, evidence based care. We strive hard to work with you to make your pregnancy and delivery experience a very positive and memorable one! Please give us a call today @ 508-295-5197 to see for yourself.
