February is Black History Month, a time dedicated to honoring the history, culture, and contributions of Black individuals who have shaped our country and our world. While this month offers a focused opportunity to reflect and learn, Black history is American history and deserves recognition year-round.
At Gateway, we believe representation matters — especially for the children and families we serve. When kids see diverse leaders, innovators, and change-makers reflected in the world around them, it helps build confidence, belonging, and possibility.
This month, we commit to listening, learning, and amplifying Black voices. We encourage our community to explore stories that may not always be highlighted in textbooks, to ask questions, and to lean into meaningful conversations.
Growth starts with awareness, and awareness leads to change.
