Today we recognize National Therapy Animal Day and the unique ways animals can support growth, connection, and well-being 💙
For some individuals with autism/autistic individuals, therapy animals can offer powerful benefits—helping to reduce anxiety, support emotional regulation, and create meaningful opportunities for connection and communication. While therapy dogs are often highlighted, other animals—like horses in equine-assisted therapy—can provide equally impactful experiences.
Equine therapy, for example, has been shown to support social engagement, confidence, and emotional awareness through movement, routine, and the human-animal bond.
At the same time, it’s important to remember that support is never one-size-fits-all. Therapy animals can be life-changing for some individuals, while others may benefit from different approaches—and both are equally valid.
During Autism Acceptance Month, we celebrate the many different paths to connection, support, and growth—because every individual deserves care that meets them where they are 💙
