Introduction:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our well-established private practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, assisting providers in daily medical procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the office. This role is integral in delivering excellent patient experiences, handling administrative duties, and ensuring the efficient workflow of the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
Prepare patients for examinations by taking medical histories, measuring vital signs (temperature, height, weight, pulse and pulse ox), and documenting patient information.
Assist providers during medical examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Perform basic clinical tasks, such as phlebotomy, EKGs, injections, and specimen collection.
Sterilize medical instruments and maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and medical equipment.
Provide patient education on medication administration, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
Administer vaccines and other injections as directed by the provider.
Collect, process, and prepare lab specimens, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
Administrative Support:
Verify patient information, including insurance details, and update medical records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Process patient referrals.
Prepare and maintain patient charts for office visits, ensuring completeness and compliance with regulations.
Patient Communication:
Provide patients with instructions regarding their treatment, medication, and post-care.
Communicate with patients to inform them of test results, treatment options, and appointment reminders.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all interactions with patients and patient information.
Inventory and Supply Management:
Assist in maintaining medical inventory, ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is in good working condition.
Order medical supplies and pharmaceuticals as needed, keeping track of inventory levels and reordering when necessary.
Organize and maintain examination rooms and office supplies to ensure an efficient workflow.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Support a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered atmosphere within the practice.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting or completion of a recognized medical assistant program preferred.
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) is strongly preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Previous experience in a medical office or clinical setting is preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and office management practices.
Proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and basic office software (Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and staff.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Ability to adapt to changing tasks and responsibilities with a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
Occasional lifting of medical equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
Ability to assist patients in and out of exam rooms when needed.
Visual and manual dexterity to handle medical instruments and documentation.
Work Environment:
Private practice setting with a small, close-knit team of medical professionals.
Office hours Monday through Thursday 9am - 7pm, Friday 9am - 5pm. Two Saturdays per month 9am - 12pm.
Summer schedule Monday through Thursday 9am - 7pm, Friday 9am - 2pm. No Saturdays Memorial Day - Labor Day.
