If you’re a rotational athlete: baseball , tennis, golf, pickleball etc. this is a great movement prep for squats. It’s akin to putting a mini band on your knees but for your torso. It really helps create awareness of your position and help tune in before you do heavier weights or exercises especially bilateral movements (on two feet).

Aside from the core stability these two movements train, I like this combo because it challenges reflexive stability- which basically means the farmer carry is trying to rip your arm out of socket and the plank pushes it back and the stability that’s required of those two things is an excellent way to train the shoulder.
