Happy National High Five Day! At Heart of Georgia Hospice, some of our favorite high fives happen at Camp WINGS — and they mean more than you might think.

Camp WINGS is our free weekend grief camp held in early November for children in 1st through 8th grade who have lost a loved one. For a lot of these kids, it's the first time they've been in a room full of other children who truly understand what they're going through.

Over the course of the weekend, campers bond through fun activities, get one-on-one attention from trained social workers, and work through their feelings in small group sessions. There's arts & crafts, outdoor activities, games, and laughter — and by the end of it, those high fives flying around aren't just about having fun. They're about resilience. They're about hope. They're about kids realizing they don't have to carry their grief alone. 💜

And the best part? It's completely free to attend.

Today is Purple Up Day, a day dedicated to honoring the brave children of our military families.

Military kids are true unsung heroes. They move from school to school, say goodbye to parents for months at a time, and carry burdens most children never face. Purple is the official color of the military child, representing a blend of all the service branch colors: Army green, Marine Corps red, and the blues of the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard.
