The Good Neighbor Initiative is a signature engagement program at Phoenix Senior Living that fosters purposeful connection, empathy, and support between residents across different neighborhoods within a community. Whether bridging Independent Living, Assisted Living, or Memory Care, the initiative empowers residents to take an active role in enriching the lives of their neighbors—fostering a culture of kindness, community, and mutual respect. At its heart, this initiative celebrates the belief that everyone has something to give—and that by supporting one another, our communities grow stronger and more united.

Our introduction to the Good Neighbor Project at Lake Joy began with our assisted living residents creating homemade sugar scrubs for our pearl residents to enjoy. Our ladies absolutely loved the idea of creating something so special for their friends that would help stimulate their senses and help them relax. They even wrote sweet messages on the finished products to take it a step further. This is only the beginning- we cannot wait to see what else our residents come up with to love thy neighbor! As if our PSL Cookie of the Year wasn't already delicious enough, our Food & Beverage Director took it one step further, and residents enjoyed our Brown Butter Triple Chocoloate Chip Cookie- Ice cream sandwich style- to celebrate National Chocolate Chip Cooke Day! Be sure to grab one of our Phoenix Signature cookies the next time you visit- you won't regret it!

This year’s PSL Signature Cookie winning recipe, “Brown Butter Triple Chocolate Chip,“ comes from The Retreat at Jasper and was lovingly crafted by their Executive Director, Brittany Hereth.

Our residents made a creative, refreshing craft to help them stay cool during these sizzling summer days! Whether you're lounging at the pool, hosting a picnic, or just soaking up the sun and having fun with us at Lake Joy, these adorable fans are a slice of fun! 🍉✨

We wrapped up July with the second edition of our newest signature program, Paddle & Plate! Residents enjoyed a lively demonstration from our Food & Beverage Director, Dee, who wowed the crowd with a refreshing watermelon soda and a vibrant watermelon mango salad. Judging by the smiles all around, it’s safe to say—it was a hit! 🍉🍽️💙

Post 2 of 2: Did you know that National Gorgeous Grandma Day is held each year in July?!
Well, one post is just not enough to capture the AMAZING event we held today to celebrate such a holiday. Our lovely ladies came together and proved there is no age limit to beauty. Residents showcased their inner beauty, shared words of wisdom, past and current talents, and of course topped it off by strutting their stuff down the catwalk! There are so many people we would like to thank that helped this event be as successful as it was today. Firstly, our beautiful residents, their friends and family members, our community pageant winners that came to support our ladies in so many ways, along with Enhabit Home Health, our entertainment, and so many more. Our Annual Miss Lake Joy pageant is always so special to us, and this year did not disappoint!!

🌞 A Sweet Start to the Week at Lake Joy! 🍓👗Our residents kicked off the week in style! 🎉✨ The Pearl neighborhood took in the sights around town while sipping on refreshing strawberry lemonade – the perfect treat to beat the heat! Meanwhile, our Assisted Living residents went on a thrifting adventure, hunting for fabulous outfits and accessories as they get pageant-ready for the Miss Lake Joy Pageant happening tomorrow at 2 PM!There’s never a dull moment at Lake Joy – just joy, community, and a whole lot of fun! 💃👒❤️

What a corn-tastic time we had at our first-ever Paddle & Plate event at Lake Joy! 🎉 We kicked things off with a fun-filled co****le tournament, where residents showed off their bean bag tossing skills and shared plenty of laughs along the way! Then, we tested our knowledge with some exciting corn trivia—who knew there were so many fun facts about corn? 🌽 From ancient history to modern uses, our residents nailed it! And of course, we couldn’t have a corn-themed Paddle and Plate without indulging in some delicious Mexican Street Corn! 🌽🌶️ Topped with all the flavorful fixings, it was the perfect treat to wrap up the day. A huge thank you to everyone who joined in on the fun. We can’t wait to keep this Paddle & Plate tradition going! 😊
