What are some historical uses of Lavender?

Due to its insecticidal properties, lavender was strewn over floors in castles and sickrooms as a disinfectant and deodorant. Lavender was used as an ingredient in smelling salts and was used to disinfect wounds during wartime. It was used as an insecticide to protect linens from moths.

It's known that the Egyptians made perfumes with lavender and when Tutankhamun's tomb was opened, traces of lavender were found and its scent could still be detected.

The ancient Greeks, on the other hand, used lavender to treat insomnia and ease back pain.

What is a yoni steam?

Yoni steaming, or vaginal steaming, involves sitting over a pot of hot, herb-infused water. There are many purported benefits of vaginal steaming.

Why should I try it?

Many use yoni steams as an alternative for reproductive health. Many women report feeling a strengthening of the vaginal walls, most report faster healing after childbirth. Yoni steams can help with vaginal dryness and detoxification of the reproductive system.

How can I do this at home?

Pour 4 cups (half) of water into the bowl you have placed in your toilet. Wave your hand 8-10 inches over the herbal water to make sure it is not too hot. Remove your underwear and sit on the seat above the steaming water. Drape a large blanket or sheet around your waist down to the floor making sure no steam escapes.

(Yoni steams are NOT recommended during pregnancy.)
