MISCONCEPTION:
We sweat out toxins 🥵

The primary role of sweat is to regulate body temperature, NOT to detoxify the body.

The LIVER and KIDNEYS are the primary organs responsible for detoxification.

Sweating is a vital process for maintaining overall health, well-being and giving you a HEALTHY GLOW!

To exercise safely in the Summer prioritize hydration. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your workout. Don't wait until you're thirsty to hydrate.

Listen to your body. Pay attention to warning signs of heat-related illness, such as dizziness, nausea, or excessive sweating. Stop exercising if you feel unwell.

There is a lot of misunderstanding around weight training for women. Many women are concerned lifting weights will cause them to ‘bulk up,’ gain weight or get bigger.

The benefits of strength training for women…

In addition to increasing your overall strength, decreasing body fat, building lean muscle mass and providing a full-body workout, strength training offers additional benefits for your overall health and well-being.

Bone health

As women age, our risk of osteoporosis goes up. This is especially true after menopause, when estrogen levels go down.
Lifting heavy weights for fewer reps creates more intensity, which builds lean muscle and improves your bone density.

Increased metabolism

Increased muscle mass helps you burn more calories throughout the day and maintain a healthy weight.

Mind-body connection

In addition to the release of feel-good hormones that comes with any form of exercise, strength training increases your mind-body connection, improves cognition and reduces anxiety and stress by teaching your body how to cope with it.

If you’re strength training correctly, it can serve as cardiovascular exercise as well!

As a fitness professional who is passionate for my clients to feel good, I’ll never stop emphasizing the importance of eliminating excess visceral body fat through exercise and diet, nurturing a healthy mindset, and managing stress. This is exactly why women should strength train. It turns out that strength training checks all three of those boxes!

In general, menapousal women to suffer a loss in muscle strength and endurance as sarcopenia sets in (the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength). Characteristics such as slowed walking, hunched backs, poor grip strength, and generally decreased function are classic, hallmark signs of aging and decreased strength.

Researchers found that individuals in this age group who did regular activity which included strength training as part of their exercise lifestyles had improved indicators of mobility, walking speed, and muscular strength and endurance as measures of frailty when compared to individuals 10- years younger who did not partake in regular activity.

I can’t think of one thing you can do with your physical body that would be more impactful than figuring out what strength training and fitness means to you; and if you need a trainer, hire one!

You can either spend time and money now to improve your health, wellness, and quality of life. Or you can wait and spend exponentially more time and money later to combat diseases and struggle to regain a decent quality of life.

Simply put, women who strength train tap into a physical and mental superpower every time they show up for a session!
