A Day Filled with Care and Connection!

Today was extra special as we hosted Movie Day and a Blood Pressure Clinic for the wonderful residents of National Church Residences in Madison Heights!

Choice Hospice: Honoring Dignity Through Choice

At Choice Hospice, we believe that those who are aging, declining, and facing end of life deserve kindness, respect, and most importantly, the power of CHOICE. Too often society overlooks their voices, making decisions for them, rather than with them.
Losing the ability to make decisions can be dehumanizing. Small choices—what music to listen to, what to wear can bring comfort and dignity. On a larger scale, choosing their care, their comfort, and their final wishes ensures that they live meaningfully to the very end.

It was indeed a celebration! The Senior and Caregiver Resource Network (SACRN) hosted an evening of great food, entertainment and raffles!! The guests of honor and recipients of the 2024 fundraiser is Healthier Black Elders Center Wayne State Institute of Gerontology. Choice Hospice was in good company with sponsor Daiva Jan of D & J Residential and Marla Straschewski.
And….I was a winner of a Turkey dinner raffle!

National Church Residences in Madison Heights recognizes the value of knowledge. Choice Hospice was invited to engage with the Madison Heights Communities of Madison Manor and Solberg Towers and talk about the importance of ‘Durable Power of Attorney and Code Status’.
The residents were eager to participate in this discussion with Choice Hospice-MI, Mindy O’Malley RN, CHPN, DON to get their affairs in order so they can move on with life!

Choice Hospice belongs to a dedicated group of professionals, whose mission is to keep older adults safely in their homes. Each year Seniors and Caregiver Resource Network (SACRN) hosts a fundraiser to contribute to this mission.
This year Senior and Caregiver Resource Network has partnered with the Institute of Gerontology to engage the community in improving the health of older adults. The Healthier Black Elders Center is part of that initiative, created to help Detroits older African Americans age successfully.
I’m asking you to consider joining us for an evening of fun and entertainment, while your contribution supports better health for Detroits older adults!
