"The federal government in early April will start offering financial assistance to help cover funeral costs for people who have died of COVID-19.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide up to $9,000 per funeral and up to $35,500 per applicant to help with expenses related to coronavirus deaths that occurred after January 20, 2020, the agency said Wednesday.

"At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters," Acting FEMA Administrator Bob Fenton said in a statement. "The COVID-19 pandemic has caused immense grief for so many people. Although we cannot change what has happened, we affirm our commitment to help with funeral and burial expenses that many families did not anticipate."

Arkansas has seen a steady climb in cremation with approximately 40% of our state choosing cremation in 2020. The National Funeral Director's Association estimates Arkansas's cremation rate will be over 55% in 2030. This steady progression rate has resulted in new products to accommodate individuals and families that prefer cremation. We also offer a complete line of cremation products that could be placed at a church or university that would accommodate up to 300 niches. We will never forget the sacrifices of the Pafford Air One Crew- James "Jim" Spruiell (Sulligent, Alabama), Mike Bolen (Hot Springs, AR) and John "Trey" Auld III (Shreveport, LA). All three died when their helicopter crashed near DeWitt on Nov. 19, 2017.
We were honored to design the memorial that is placed at the entrance of the Pine Bluff Regional Airport Grider Field.
