Meet our next Therapist:
Brooke Potts MS, CCC-SLP

How long have you been with Excel?: “I started with Excel right after graduation from Clarion University, September 2020.”

Why did you join Excel?: “I joined Excel because I loved the one on one setting and the connection you get to build with the caretakers and kiddos. Also being in an office with three other SLPs is huge, being able to bounce ideas of one another and see different perspectives on treatment has made me a more well rounded therapist.”

What do you love most about what you do?: “I truly love seeing the “light bulb” go off for the first time. Whether it’s speech or language, it is so rewarding seeing the moment when it clicks.”

Tell us something you enjoy doing outside of work: “Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband Ross and my daughter Willow. You can almost always catch us cooking/baking, having campfires, visiting family, kayaking, or hanging out with friends.”

Tell us a fun fact about you: “I never liked peanut butter until I got pregnant with Willow and now I absolutely love it.”

Meet our next Therapist:
Jenna Cerra MS, CCC-SLP

How long have you been with Excel?: “I’ve been working at Excel since January of 2017. I started working immediately after I graduated from Clarion in December of 2016.”

Why did you join Excel?: “I joined Excel because it was the perfect fit! Working in a private practice setting had always been a dream of mine since graduating college. I’ve always wanted to work with and help children improve both speech and language skills in a very engaging and fun way!”

What do you love most about what you do?: “I really love what we do as speech language pathologists, and am thrilled to be part of an amazing team providing services to the Warren County Community and surrounding areas. I love seeing children understand and use new skills and concepts for the first time- it’s so rewarding! They are making life long changes through work and play and I’m lucky to be a part of the process.”

Tell us something you enjoy doing outside of work: “Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband Cole, family, and friends. I enjoy camping, golfing and hiking. When we aren’t spending time together or with family and friends, I enjoy reading and crafting!”

Tell us a fun fact about you: “One surprising fact about me is that I love Winter. It’s a good thing because we see many months of it!”

Meet the Owner of our Practice:
Erica Madigan MS, CCC-SLP

How did Excel come to be: “Owning my own speech therapy practice has always been a life long dream of mine. We have such a need for pediatric speech and language services in our community. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of children by providing quality, one-on-one speech therapy in a warm and friendly environment designed to meet the individual needs of children and their families. This dream came into fruition when Excel opened its doors to welcome its first patients on August 5, 2015.”

Tell us about your career path: ”After graduating from Clarion University with a Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 1998, I began my career as a school-based SLP serving 5 schools in the Warren County School District. In 2005, I joined the staff at Warren General Hospital and implemented the first ever pediatric speech therapy program out of Rehab Works. In 2015, I decided to build a private speech therapy practice of my very own.”

What do you love most about what you do?: “The most rewarding thing about being a speech therapist for me is watching a young person grow in their speech and language skills. Seeing a child come into my office completely unintelligible or even nonverbal and watching them grow into an effective, confident communicator and knowing that I played part in that is hugely rewarding. I love working with children because they challenge and inspire me everyday.”

Tell us something you enjoy doing outside of work: “Outside of work, I love playing volleyball, working in my gardens, boating, and spending time with my husband,Matt, our three wonderful children, Ryan, Katie, and Lindsay, and our many friends.”

Tell us a fun fact about you: “I'm terrified of birds yet we've raised chickens for the past 10 years.”
