Warren General Hospital
Being Exceptional Every Day (BEE Award)
On February 4th 2025, a Physical Therapist at Warren General Hospital was honored with the BEE Award for Being Exceptional Every Day. The BEE (Being Exceptional Every Day) award was developed to honor any hospital employee who is not a licensed nurse here at Warren General Hospital. This Award was created by nursing leadership to compliment the DAISY Award and honor patient care staff that continuously goes above and beyond for patients and their families every day. Recognizing non-nursing staff who demonstrate our Core values here at Warren General Hospital is important to us.
Just like in nature, bees are loyal and hardworking and cannot exist without the daisy, and neither can the daisy exist without the bee. The BEE Award acknowledges the employee for going above and beyond for patients, their families, and our hospital every day. The Warren General Hospital Leadership Team appreciates everything they do to make the Hospital and our patients a top priority.
The twelfth BEE Award recipient at Warren General Hospital is Deanna Beyer a Physical Therapist. Deanna was nominated by Michelle Greene who was a patient in the Physical Therapy Department. Michelle wrote,” I recently had a total knee replacement and immediately started Physical Therapy at Rehab Works. I was originally evaluated by Deanna Beyer. She quickly developed a physical therapy plan, and as I attended sessions, I had the opportunity to experience sessions with several different Physical Therapists. I liked that, because I was able to glean different exercises and methods of stretching that aided in gaining my mobility and range of motion. I commented to one of the therapists that everyone at WGH Rehab Works were very helpful and appeared to genuinely care about their patients’ recovery. Her reply was that every employee there loved what they did and that was why they were there.
Out of all the competent therapists, one in particular stood out. Deanna Beyer went the extra mile. She utilized educational material to explain different aspects of therapy. As I progressed, new exercises were introduced to assist in reaching my goals. On several occasions she was flexible in the therapy regiment to address weaknesses and used manual pressure and a roller to gently stretch my muscles.
Deanna is upbeat, encouraging and very knowledgeable. When I made a comment to her, referring to her therapy as “working magic” she attributed it to her 30 years of experience. It shows! Although she has many patients, during my therapy sessions she made me feel like the goals I desired to achieve were her number one priority.
I would like to recognize Deanna Beyer for exceptional contributions to our community, by providing exception physical therapy to every patient, every day.
Congratulations Deanna, Warren General Hospital is honored to have an exceptional employee like you working here.
Employees may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Warren General Hospital to receive The BEE Award. Awards are presented throughout the year at celebrations attended by the Honoree’s colleagues, patients, and visitors. Each Honoree receives a certificate commending her or him for Being Exceptional Every day. Honorees also receive a BEE Award pin, a generous gift card at the hospital’s Window Box gift shop, four free lunches at the cafeteria, eight hour awards day off, and a beautiful, very rare crystal called the Bumble Bee Jasper, found at Mount Papandayan in Indonesia.
Chief Executive Officer Rick Allen states, “It is important our employees know their work is highly valued, and the BEE Program provides a way for us to do that.”
Director of Nursing Melissa Shaffer states, “We are proud to recognize our exceptional healthcare workers. They are everyday heroes, and it’s important that they know their work is highly valued. The BEE Award provides a way for us to do that.”
On behalf of all of us at Warren General Hospital, we thank you, Deanna, for choosing Warren General Hospital as your employer and for the skill, care, and compassion you give to our patients and coworkers every day. Congratulations!
