Meet Dr. Khalie Mahoney, one of our incredible interns we are highlighting today in our Spotlight Series!

She was born in Portage la Prairie, Canada 🇨🇦 but spent most of her childhood in Penang, Malaysia 🇲🇾

She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University 🎓

Outside of medicine, Khalie finds peace in reading and working out 💪📚 During COVID, she also discovered a love for painting—though med school made it harder to find the time 🎨🩺

Looking ahead, she hopes to complete a fellowship in clinical forensics and live closer to her nieces and nephew… but she’s also keeping her heart open to wherever the next 10 years lead! 🕵️‍♀️✨

Favorite food? It’s a tie between curry puffs and cashew nut chicken—comfort food at its finest 🥟🍛🥢

Say hi to Dr. Austin Cox, one of our PGY-1s we are highlighting in today’s Intern Spotlight Series!

He’s originally from New Ulm, Minnesota 🏡 and went to Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine for med school👨‍⚕️

Outside of medicine, Austin enjoys skiing, hitting the gym, and baking up something good on his days off 🎿🏋️‍♂️🍰

In 10 years, he sees himself working in a community hospital—hopefully after completing a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine 🏥👶⚕️

And when it comes to food? Chinese takeout is the go-to—especially pineapple chicken and an eggroll 🍍🐔🥡

Introducing Dr. Victoria Ruprecht, one of our adventurous PGY-1s in today’s Intern Spotlight Series!

She calls both Rockaway Beach, NY and Grosse Pointe, MI home 🏖️🌆 and earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine 🎓

When she’s not in the hospital, Victoria’s usually behind a camera, out surfing, backpacking somewhere off the grid, or in a hot yoga or Pilates class 🧘‍♀️📸🌊✈️ She also loves quality time with her Portuguese Water Dog, Vivaldi 🐶 and collects postcards and sand from her travels 🏝️💌

In 10 years, she sees herself doing global health work, practicing emergency medicine on an island in Hawaii, or working part-time as an expedition doctor 🌍🏥

Her favorite foods? A delicious mix of half-sour pickles, cheese, chocolate, tacos al pastor, and all things Vietnamese and Polish 😋🧀🌮🍫

 Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine 🩺

Outside of medicine, you’ll find Alen weight lifting, traveling, checking out new food spots, or tuning into a good podcast 🎧💪✈️

In 10 years, he sees himself as a stellar ED attending — exactly where he’s meant to be 🚑

Favorite food? Goat biriyani, hands down 🐐🍛

She’s originally from Kirkland, Washington 🌲 and went to the University of Utah School of Medicine for med school 🎓

When she’s off duty, Maggie enjoys discovering new restaurants and staying up to date on the latest Crime Ju**ie podcast episodes 🍽️🎧🔎

In 10 years, she sees herself practicing emergency medicine at an academic center—doing what she loves while helping train the next generation of EM docs 🏥📚

As for her favorite food? She’s always in the mood for a good sushi roll 🍣

We’re excited to introduce the first intern in our Spotlight Series: Dr. Nathalie Pakbaz!
 Originally from Laval, Quebec 🇨🇦, she attended Saint James School of Medicine 🩺

Outside of medicine, Nathalie loves hosting bi-monthly dinner parties, exploring new restaurants, traveling, performing on stage 🎭, and reading about history. She proudly embraces her inner dork — she can talk about anime, Star Wars, and superheroes all day long

In 10 years, she sees herself working across multiple fields, but most importantly, building a growing family ❤️

Her favorite food? Koobideh, Kabobs, and Fesenjoon 😋 She loves cooking Persian food for friends and family — and soon, for her new EM fam too! 🇮🇷

Intern Boot Camp was a great success yesterday! We practiced subclavian central line placement, arterial line insertion, intubation techniques, chest tube placement, and performed eFAST exams. We’re thrilled to have our new interns joining the ED team next week—looking forward to a great start together! 😁🏥

This month we had a phenomenal OB/Neonatal Resuscitation Sim Lab! Residents from multiple Henry Ford programs came together to get some hands on experience and lectures from OB and NICU physicians 🤰🚑🚨👩‍🍼
