We are excited to officially announce Dr. Maqbool as our new Emergency Medicine Associate Program Director at Henry Ford Warren! 🎉 After over 2 years of dedicated service as core faculty, we are so proud to see her step into this well-deserved leadership role.

We will also greatly miss Dr. Churukian as he transitions to ED Program Director position at another Henry Ford facility. Thank you for your mentorship, leadership, and everything you’ve done for our program… you’ll always be part of the family!

Meet Dr. Maqbool, our Emergency Medicine DEI & Wellness Director. Originally from Troy, MI, she completed medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine and went on to train in Emergency Medicine at Detroit Receiving Hospital–DMC. Dr. Maqbool says one of the most rewarding parts of being a faculty member is witnessing residents experience milestones for the first time—whether running a code or performing a new procedure—and watching their growth over the years. Working alongside residents who are excited to learn reminds her just how meaningful and rewarding emergency medicine can be. Outside of the ED, she enjoys Detroit’s incredible live music scene, as well as the city’s diversity, new parks, and ever-growing restaurant scene.

Trauma Day was a day of hands-on learning and collaboration! We kicked things off with insightful lectures from Dr. Yokhana and Dr. Morton on trauma, burns, and orthopedic injuries, followed by an immersive SIM lab featuring IO line placement, central lines, EFAST, difficult airways, chest tubes, and splinting techniques.
Plenty of learning, teamwork, and fun with our colleagues along the way!

Journal Club tonight was a great success! 🍻 It was wonderful to gather with our residents and med students to discuss a thought-provoking EM article while also enjoying time together outside the department. Grateful for the learning, conversation & community!

Meet Dr. Mansour, one of our dedicated Emergency Medicine Core Faculty Members and Simulation Lab Director. Originally from Southfield, MI, Dr. Mansour earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed residency training at Central Michigan University. She shares that one of the most rewarding parts of being a faculty member is the constant challenge and inspiration that comes from working with residents—who push her to grow while she supports their development into strong, independent emergency physicians. Outside of the ED, Dr. Mansour enjoys exploring Detroit’s diverse food scene and visiting the city’s many incredible breweries.

Meet Dr. Boutorwick, one of our Core Faculty members and the Ultrasound Director for our Emergency Medicine program. Originally from Madison Heights, MI, Dr. Boutorwick completed medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to train at our very own residency program—then known as Ascension Macomb-Oakland—graduating with the Class of 2018. He finds great fulfillment in mentoring residents and building meaningful relationships with colleagues, noting how rewarding it is to watch trainees grow into confident, capable clinicians. A proud Detroiter, Dr. Boutorwick enjoys the city’s rich musical heritage, vibrant culture, and easy access to professional sports. As a longtime Red Wings fan, he’s especially looking forward to the upcoming season.
