The Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden unveiled a beautiful cross in honor of a former North Star resident, Arnold Skjerven. His wife, Evelyn poses in front of the newly dedicated cross with her family.

Another year, another successful back-to-school drive! 🎒 North Star Way went above and beyond, donating a mountain of supplies to help kids start the school year right. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year's drive a huge success!

Happy National Assisted Living Week!

Established in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted
Living (NCAL), National Assisted Living Week® (NALW)
provides a unique opportunity for residents, their
loved ones, staff, volunteers, and local communities
to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for
America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
The annual observance encourages assisted living
communities around the country to offer a variety of
events and activities to celebrate the individuals they
serve, as well as to help educate members of the public
about this important aspect of long term care.

This year’s NALW theme—Ageless Adventure—offers
assisted living staff, communities, residents, and families the
opportunity to celebrate the week with big smiles and even
bigger adventures! Ageless Adventure reminds us that the
journey never stops, and adventure has no age limit.

George and Joyce’s granddaughter, Maddie, recently earned her Master’s degree. The couple had hoped to attend her graduation in North Carolina but were unable to. To celebrate, Maddie brought her cap, gown, and diploma to take some photos with her grandparents. It was a beautiful moment and an honor to capture!

As summer winds down, we're looking back on some wonderful memories. It was a season of growth, both in our bountiful garden and in the fun we shared. We loved getting creative with floral arrangements from Klassen's Greenhouse and spending time out on the patio and under the gazebo. It was a summer of learning and fun with many trips to the Godel Library, a lively time at Warren Crazy Days, and a refreshing stop at lemonade stands. We capped it all off with a visit to the Viking Good Old Days. Thank you for a season filled with great food, good weather, and the best company!

The annual North Star Manor Family Picnic served as an excellent finale to the summer. The event featured a family meal, live musical performances, alongside concessions offering snow cones and cotton candy. In addition, a dedicated area with games and prizes was provided for younger attendees. The gathering was well-attended and enjoyed by all. See you all next year!

Nothing says summer like some ice-cold lemonade! We're so grateful to Roslyn, who set up her lemonade stand for residents to celebrate National Lemon Juice Day. Thank you for sharing your delicious creation with us, Rosalyn!

We will be serving at North Star Manor in the East Common area by the NVHC hallway on Wednesday, August 27th, from 11 a.m.-1 pm.
The cost is $10 for salad greens with various toppings, pasta salads, dessert salads and a bottle of water.

All proceeds go to the North Star Way Committee that directly gives back to all employees to provide for staff appreciation meals, employee of the quarter, prizes, gifts, snack machine items and special treats.
