Some of the common hip problems that we see in our clinics are hip osteoarthritis, hip tendonitis, hip bursitis, hip laboral tears and hip fractures. When you come to our clinic with a suspected hip problem, we will take a detailed history of your pain and perform a thorough physical examination. Based upon the examination, we will determine if your symptoms warrant a prompt x-ray or advanced imaging such as an MRI. Parents know immediately if their newborn has a clubfoot. Some will even know before the child is born, if an ultrasound was done during the pregnancy. A clubfoot occurs in approximately one in every 1000 births, with boys slightly outnumbering girls. One or both feet may be affected.

Symptoms of Clubfoot include:
The appearance is unmistakable: the foot is turned to the side and it may even appear that the top of the foot is where the bottom should be. The involved foot, calf and leg are smaller and shorter than the normal side. It is not a painful condition. But if it is not treated, clubfoot will lead to significant discomfort and disability by the teenage years.

Did you know that 80-90% of people have suffered from headaches in their lifetime? 13% of all Americans have migraines. 20% of those have medically resistant headaches that require intervention. If headaches are treated at home, mainly with “as-needed” medication, they have a very high risk of developing medication overuse headache, which can be very difficult to treat.

Peripheral nerves extend throughout the body. When a peripheral nerve is damaged by injury or illness, it can affect the ability to feel and/or move.

Typical symptoms include:
- Pain
- Tingling
- Numbness
- Sensitivity
- Weak muscles

Neuralgias of the face can result in transient or constant pain in the areas supplied by the various facial peripheral nerves. Medication and nerve blocks are common interventions. If pain persists, neuromodulation is a treatment option.

What happens after a successful trial procedure of a peripheral nerve stimulator?

If a trial goes correctly, our doctors will go ahead and schedule the placement of the permanent stimulator. Four wires will be placed permanently under the skin so nothing shows on the outside. After the insertion, we will apply the activator and then show you how to use it to control your pain levels.
