🌟 FUN FACT FRIDAY: Yoga is NOT a one pose fits all!
Why the Same Yoga Pose Feels Different in Every Body
Do you ever wonder why some yoga poses feel natural for you, while others feel awkward, restricted, or just plain uncomfortable?
It’s not because you’re “bad” at yoga (there is no such thing) — it’s because every body is built differently.
Bone structure, joint shape, muscle length, tendon elasticity, and even where your joints sit in the socket all influence how a pose feels. Two people can be doing the same posture and experience it in completely different ways.
For example, hip sockets vary widely in depth and angle. This means poses like pigeon, lotus, or wide-legged folds may feel spacious for one person and deeply limited for another. The same goes for shoulders, spines, and ankles. Your anatomy sets natural boundaries — and yoga is meant to work with them, not against them.
Beyond structure, your nervous system, lifestyle, and history play a role too. Past injuries, repetitive movement, stress levels, and even how you sit or stand throughout the day shape your experience on the mat.
This is why yoga offers variations, props, and options. They aren’t shortcuts — they’re tools for honoring your body. The practice isn’t about forcing yourself into a shape; it’s about finding the version of the pose that allows for steady breath, awareness, and balance.
If we stop comparing and start listening, yoga becomes less about “doing it right” and more about doing what’s right for you.
