Simple Oatmeal Breakfast “Cookies”!

Have your cookie and eat it too! 😉🍪

I make these for my son all the time and he loves them. A great way to sneak in more fiber with oats, h**p and chia seeds! Add chocolate chips or enjoy without!

Ingredients:

1 Banana (mashed)
1 Egg
1/2 cup Almond Butter (slightly warmed)
1/4 cup Maple Syrup
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 cups Oats (rolled)
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 cup H**p Seeds
2 tbsps Chia Seeds
1/4 tsp Sea Salt
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or cacao nibs (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Add the banana, egg, almond butter, maple syrup, and vanilla to a large bowl. Whisk until well combined.
3. Add the oats, baking powder, h**p seeds, chia seeds, and salt. Mix with a spatula or spoon until combined. Mix in chocolate chips if using.
4. Using clean hands, or a cookie scoop, form the dough into large cookies, about two tablespoons per cookie. Place on the baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 14 minutes, or until cookies are golden brown.
5. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for five
minutes before moving them to a cooling rack.

Enjoy!

Happy Summer Solstice ☀️

It’s the longest day of the year, the first day of summer and my favorite day!

It’s a reminder to take time to pause and be still as the sun does today before reversing directions. Reflect on the past several months as we come out of the darkness and begin a new chapter of the year.

What in your life is ready to rise, be seen and be celebrated?

The summer solstice is a time to honor the Earth and the Sun’s energy! Enjoy this new energy and find time to be outside today!

Welcome to summer! ☀️💫

I’ve learned that nourishment goes far beyond food. Today is a reminder that what we feed our minds is just as important as what we feed our bodies.

Meditation isn’t about “clearing your mind”—it’s about creating space. Space to breathe, to feel, to pause, and to respond with intention.

Whether it’s 2 minutes of stillness or 20, give yourself the gift of presence today. Your nervous system, your digestion, and your soul will thank you.

Closing out the week with a post to focus on Women’s Health Week! A hot topic always is a focus on hormone health.

Hormonal health is intricately linked to metabolic, reproductive, and emotional well-being. Nutrition plays a critical role in maintaining hormonal balance through its effects on everything from insulin sensitivity, inflammation, liver detoxification, and overall endocrine function.

Below are a few simple ways to support your hormones nutritionally:

🐟Eat more healthy fats (omega-3s from fatty fish, avocado, flaxseed) are essential for the synthesis of steroid hormones like estrogen and progesterone.

🥦 Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts) contain compounds like sulphoraphane, indole-3-carbinol and DIM which support estrogen metabolism through liver detoxification pathways.

🍳 Adequate protein intake helps stabilize blood glucose and supports the production of peptide hormones like insulin and glucagon.

🍫 Magnesium-rich foods (dark chocolate, leafy greens, pumpkin seeds) help modulate cortisol and support thyroid function.

🍵 Limit added sugars and refined carbohydrates, which can trigger insulin resistance—a key driver of hormonal imbalances like PCOS and metabolic syndrome.

🧘‍♀️ Chronic stress elevates cortisol, disrupting the HPA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) axis and affecting menstrual regularity and ovulation. Pair smart nutrition with stress-reduction strategies for optimal endocrine health. Enjoy the outdoors and nature. Try yoga, meditation or deep breathing!

Take time today to honor your body’s natural body rhythms through connecting nutrition with stress management to support your hormone health!

Micronutrient Testing: Intracellular vs Extracellular – What’s the Difference?

First let’s understand the role of micronutrients. Micronutrients are essentially cofactors in ensuring biochemical processes in your body are working optimally. Even a small deficiency can contribute to fatigue, chronic disease and reduced mitochondrial function. Micronutrients support metabolism and energy production!

Not all nutrient tests are created equal!

Here’s the breakdown:

✨Extracellular Testing (e.g. standard blood serum):

👉Measures nutrients outside your cells
👉Reflects recent intake (diet/supplements)
👉Can fluctuate daily

Intracellular Testing:

👉Measures nutrients inside your cells
👉Shows what your body actually absorbs and utilizes
👉Gives deeper insight into long-term nutrient status

If you’re chasing optimal health, knowing what’s happening inside your cells matters most!

Why guess? Take a test! DM me for more details or if you are interested in learning more.

May is Mental Health Month!

What you eat affects how feel and how you feel can affect what you eat. Nutrition plays a key role in supporting your mental health and overall brain health.

What you eat doesn’t just fuel your body — it feeds your brain, too. Nutrients like omega-3s, B vitamins, magnesium, choline and antioxidants support brain health and can help regulate mood, energy, and focus.

As a dietitian, I often say wellness is integrative. What you eat is a foundation for not just physical well-being but mental and emotional well-being too.

Here are a few mood-boosting foods to add to your day:

👉Fatty fish & omega 3’s (salmon, sardines, anchovies, walnuts, h**p hearts)
👉Leafy greens (spinach, kale, Bok Choy)
👉Fermented foods (yogurt, kefir, kimchi)
👉Berries and colorful fruits and veggies
👉Whole grains and nuts
👉herbs and spices (turmeric, ginger, rosemary, cinnamon)
Let’s nourish our minds as much as our bodies this month — one meal at a time.

Quit Should-ing yourself.

We are all guilty of doing it. But if we can focus more on choosing to say “I get to do…, rather than I should…” it helps us to shift our mindset from a feeling of gratitude and empowerment vs a feeling of guilt and obligation.

By making this small shift in the words we choose, it turns “tasks” into choices vs chores.

Try these simple shifts in your thoughts and words:

⭐️”I should eat healthy” becomes “I get to fuel and nourish my body with wholesome food”

⭐️”I should meditate” becomes “I get to take 5 minutes for peace”

How can you shift your mindset today and this week?

Small changes=Big results

How you fuel your body matters just as much as how you move it. Yoga is the practice of combining breath with movement and finding the balance between body and mind.

Yoga helps to clear our mind and can provide clarity through meditation and intention setting which can help us focus on finding gratitude and being present. In addition, a consistent yoga practice helps to support the gut-brain connection leading to overall digestive support allowing your body to properly rest and digest.

There are many positive benefits to yoga from boosting flexibility, to stress management, better sleep and improving posture. It’s not just a workout, it’s self-care from the inside out!

Meet me on the mat Tuesdays at 8:45am to take some breaths and let it all flow
